September 30, 200520 yr I am doing a project on music for my Diverse Populations class. I am doing something on ethnicity/race in music, like who listens to what. I know that everyone here come from many different places in the world. This is more for non-Hispanics though. I already know what Hispanics like. So, if anyone can help me out and tell me what your parents like to listen to, or even what you like to listen to, that would be great. I kinda have an idea, but I want the answer from you guys. Thanks.
September 30, 200520 yr I'm caucasian and I listen to anything but contemporary country muzack. So, my listening taste ranges from: Danzig, Pixies, Ol' Dirty Bastard, KISS, the Misfits, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Outkast, Yin Yang Twins, anything by Twista, Ramones, Gorillaz, Amie Mann, NWA, the Who, Black Flag and Richard Cheese and the Lounge Against the Machine just off the top of my head.

I mostly listen to classic rock (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton project) With some modern rock/alternative music (Coldplay, Rd Hot Chili Peppers, 12 Stones, The Spill Canvas, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Ben Folds, The Servant, Billy Talent, Spoon, CKY, Chevelle, Fall Out Boy, Finch, Incubus) And a bit of rap (Public Enemy, NWA, Mos Def, Outkast, Wu-Tang Clan, 2pac, Dr. Dre)
September 30, 200520 yr i listen mostly to contry and classic rock. i hate rap and hip hop or whatever the hell its called now. i cant stand tejano, yet i do like salsa. but everything else is stuff I can live with.

September 30, 200520 yr My Mom and Dad are both huge Jazz fans new and old. When I DJ I play electronica music ranging from breakbeat, idm, and drumnbass. Casual listening I listen to alot of downtempo, breakbeat, and underground hiphop. im white

October 1, 200520 yr My mom's black. She likes gospel and old school soul/R&B stuff mostly, but she loves Jimi Hendrix and The Who. I'm black and Hispanic...I like any and everything except heavy metal, country (all though pop-country can be ok), and Elvis. My favorite genres are R&B, Rap, Gospel, Dancehall, and Soca.

I like mostly country, but I love classic rock and a lot of modern rock... as well as R&B and any love song. I'm white and listen to hip-hop. I am not one of "those" people though. October 2, 200520 yr We would fit the caucasian category. I like a wide range of music, but listen mainly to classic rock and country. My wife is mainly into country. As for my mom (in her 70's,) she likes some soft jazz, some swing and big band, and as is common for many of that time frame, has to get her fix of "old blue eyes."
October 2, 200520 yr My father is Hispanic, My mother is caucasian. He likes Classical music, classic rock, and some of the new age stuff from the 80's like Devo. My mother is more of a 50's oldies fan. I am a 60/70's classic rock fan. I also enjoy some of the newer alternative stuff, but I'm very picky about it as there are only a few newer bands I'll really listen to.
October 2, 200520 yr White Jewish girl here: listens to everything but country- (Sorry Bob!) - prefers salsa & merengue and oldies to rap/hip-hop Husband (Hispanic but considers himself American) listens mostly to rock, metal Dad (white Jewish guy) 74 years old- Easy listening- Neil Diamond, Paul Simon Aunt (white Jewish girl) 83 years old- oldies and Latin music, some Klezmer (Jewish folk music) Hope this helps!
