Florida Panthers Opening Night Thread

Featured Replies

I would if I was in FL.

There are 1,000 tickets left for the opener and the friday game, so both should sell out.

I would if it wasn't a work/school night. I am going Friday night though.

I can't wait for the season....good luck to your boys....hope to see y'all in the Eastern conference finals.

Only 5 days, 5 hours, 18 minutes, and 34 seconds left until NHL opening night 2005!

Who's going to be there?

i will. i have missed hockey bad. just completed my league and im already missing playing. lets bring the roar back to the ODC cats! :thumbup

I plan on going Friday. Should probably buy my tickets in advance.

Supposedly there is only about 1,000 tickets left for both opening night and Friday's game vs. Tampa Bay. I think you're seeing alot of the "snowbirds" jumping at the chance to finally see some live hockey again. I would assume they wouldn't sell out until gameday, but you never know, 1,000 seems awfully low...i'd get the tickets as soon as possible!

Hopefully we will draw well this season. If we are a decent team that shouldnt be a problem. I plan to go to about 7-8 games depending on when I am home.

$20 for upper level and $60 for the cheapest lower level is too much for me to even consider going to any games this year.

And you have to watch hockey.

Can't make it to opening night. I will be there tomorrow to watch the game against the Blightning (I can't turn down a free ticket, you see... :D ).

Cape's Hockey Season Checklist:

1) Add link to the Panthers Daily Puck to my signature.

2) Adjust my TV for hockey. Check FSN Florida (Ch. 423), Sun Sports (Ch. 422), OLN (Ch. 151) and NBC (Ch. 20) for future NHL action.

3) Adjust the HDTV for hockey. Check NBC (Ch. 20.1) and HDNet (Ch. 9422) for future NHL action. Bitch about lack of OLN HD on Dish Network (or anywhere else for that matter)

4) Check code for Panthers Daily Puck and make sure that the forum is fresh.

5) Find plastic rat to celebrate Panther goals with.

6) Find comfy sweaters for those cold Hockey nights.

7) Add Panthers schedule to calendar.

8) Check NBCOlympics.com for 2006 Winter Olympics news.

9) Check NHL.com for news.

10) Make sure Beinfest4Prez doesn't get brain freeze from the NHL action.

How do you guys thing the panthers will finish?

I say they will do good enough for the 7 seed

If Kovalchuk sits out the entire year, they could conceivably win the division, provided Luongo plays as well as he did last season, and Huselius continues the play he showed in Sweeden during the lock-out (remember, there's no red-line there, either).

If Bouwmeester and Huselius progress as planned, and Luongo isn't hurt by the limitations on goalie padding/jersey sizing, they've got the potential to be a good team...

If all of our guys have progressed, we have a serious shot at making some noise in the post season. And I just looked at JayBo's and Stephen's stats from playing with the Wolves. They were putting up serious points in limited games (Only 18). With a team that had a talent level comparable to the Panthers (Had Keri Lehtonen has goalie, who is going to be a great goalie). I can't wait to see!

I dont know about great team but def good. I didnt realize that Kovalchuk was still in russia, hopefully he wont sign this season :)

I think the only teams that on paper are better than us in the East are the Bruins, Flyers, Canadiens, Devils and Ottawa. If the lightning have poor goaltending then they could be had. I think making it to the playoffs this year would be a HUGE breath of fresh air, since the last time they made it to the playoffs and were decent was in 1999-2000.

John Grahame almost took Bulin's job last year. He will be good. The Lightning are still the best team on paper in the southeast division. The Senators are not better on paper and the Canadiens aren't either. The Bruins paper is filled with older, inury prone guys.

Best team on paper is the Flyers, followed by the Lightning, and Devils. Panthers are probably 6-7th best on paper.

How is Ottawa not better on paper?

How is Ottawa not better on paper? One word...

Goaltending.

is Horton gonna play this year?

Yup, he is on the second line with Roberts and Weiss.
