November 24, 200520 yr Also go to every Publix, Albertsons etc: and ask the Manager if you can put the flyer on the windows/doors. I am sure they wouldnt mind. (Especially the one in Weston *cough* Conine lives there.
November 24, 200520 yr We should also start openly campaigning to remove those at fault in the different levels of government from power, and to defeat them in any future election they may take place in. Nothing lights a fire under the ass of a politician in a democracy like threatening to vote him out. I like the idea, but once we get the site up and running, I'd suggest doing something like a friends and foes list. List those that support a stadium under friends and those that don't under foes, obviously, and write that when election times come we need to take this list into consideration to get more friends and less foes on the list.
November 24, 200520 yr Someone needs to make a pinned closed topic of what everyone is going to do and update it when we come up with a new idea. All these ideas get lost in all the posts.

November 24, 200520 yr ^^ How soon do we planing on having that site up? I'm gonna buy the domain name as soon as we have a host, which will cost us a little over $100 a year, so we'll need donations. Juanky said he was going to open a bank account and link it to a PayPal account so all donations can go to one account, so once that happens and we get the donations, we're good as gold.

November 24, 200520 yr mk7, that's awesome. I'm going to go on Monday (or maybe tomorrow, are banks open?) and open up a new account at my bank. I'll connect it to paypal, so any and all donations can run through there and we can have a central source of money for the cause. We can purchase flyers and stuff with the money of course, but first and foremost would be that money going to the stadium. I just sent Miri a long PM. Anyway, bottom line, I'll foot the bill for a domain name. We can get a pretty good hosting package for an average of $8.96 a month if we buy it for the year. Definitely we'll need donations via PayPal. Some years ago there was a save the Expos site where these guys just asked people to make pledges to buy the team. But it generated a lot of publicity. With a site where we offer VIABLE options (not buying the team) we could as well. Once it's up and running we call newspapers, radio, TV (I have an in at NBC 6 sports) and get them to publicize it. We need this to happen. You'll definately get my donations for this. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
November 25, 200520 yr A good way to distribute the flyers is to put them in mailboxes. (Ones in your Neighborhood). I am going hang a flyer on the board by the entrance to my community, everyone who comes in the community will be definately see it.
November 25, 200520 yr Does anyone know a way to get a hold of voting records for bills in the State House and Senate, specifically member by member voting history? I'm looking specifically for anything that concerns the Marlins and/or any professional sports team in the state of Florida.
November 25, 200520 yr If anyone designs a "Save the Marlins" tee shirt I'll buy one... I have connections with News Channel 5 (West Palm NBC affiliate) so if you guys get something serious going just let me know...

That is a federal offense. Tampering with the mail is an offense that is prosecuted and I doubt anyone wants that. Up upon Boards for the flyers and all is great. I will help whenever I can folks
November 25, 200520 yr :o I just remembered something! One of my friends mentioned that Jeff Conine goes to her church and that he's given them free tickets and stuff! I'm going to IM her to see if she can talk to him (if she sees him) for us!

November 25, 200520 yr Greetings from Scotland. I'v e been following the Marlins since 2002 and fallen head over heels in love with them. I'd be absolutely gutted if the team ceased to exist. I'm cheering you guys on in whatever protests or whatever you are undertaking. Andrew
November 25, 200520 yr Wow! It's really cool to know that we have a Marlins fan in Scotland. Welcome to the boards. Go Marlins!
November 26, 200520 yr Something to think about... This was posted on the My Space group. It was Dan le Batard that said on his show that there was no battle cry from the fans for a new stadium due to the attendance. You have to start saving the Marlins from somewhere and doing an actual "Save the Marlins" campaign goes a long way in stating that there are fans out there willing to go all out for this team and maybe the team is worth saving after all. So let the "Save the Marlins" campaign be our battle cry.. Call Le Batard on his show. Tell him what we are planning on doing. Show him that we aren't playing around. *sigh* Help me out. Some people are just assholes. http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseact...11A6B3366440359
November 26, 200520 yr I've been thinking about what he said since I heard him say it Wednesday night. And thinking about it, he does have a point because if people really wanted this stadium and this team bad enough, they would have made themselves focal at the stadium and in the public and declared that they want Major League Baseball here in South Florida. Well you know attendance has improved since this team won it all in 2003, yet there really hasn't been a large group of people to come out and say "We want this stadium and we want this baseball team in South Florida". Well everyone, I feel that WE are those people and WE will be heard and WE will get this stadium issue done because nobody is taking this team from us without a fight!! :thumbup
