November 26, 200520 yr I've been thinking about what he said since I heard him say it Wednesday night. And thinking about it, he does have a point because if people really wanted this stadium and this team bad enough, they would have made themselves focal at the stadium and in the public and declared that they want Major League Baseball here in South Florida. Well you know attendance has improved since this team won it all in 2003, yet there really hasn't been a large group of people to come out and say "We want this stadium and we want this baseball team in South Florida". Well everyone I feel that WE are those people and WE will be heard and WE will get this stadium issue done because nobody is taking this team from us without a fight!! :thumbup That brought a tear to my eye :lol We can do this! :woot
November 26, 200520 yr Well, anyone have Dan LeBatard's e-mail? I forgot if it was Moneyball or Juanky who had all the Sports Talk host and their email addressess up in some thread. I can't take a look at the moment because I'm off to work, but if someone can dig and find them, then we can get started. I think a nice bombardment of emails on Monday or Tuesday will be a good start. Its time that we go to the mattresses for this team! (Godfather reference, it means it's time to go to war)
November 26, 200520 yr Yesterday I went to Sawgrass Mall and handed out shoddy fliers (with the geocities site and Alvarez's contact information, along with the Save the Marlins logo and the words "Help keep the Marlins in South Florida!") I made to about 40 people I saw with Marlins hats and shirts on. I wish we had a .com name and a pro website though. How's the bank account going, Juanky? I'm dying to start donating.

If anybody goes to a Heat or Panthers game they should hand out or put flyers on cars while they are there. Usually if they are a fan of the Heat/ Panthers they are probably a fan of the Marlins :thumbup

November 26, 200520 yr I posted this in a different thread so I am putting it here as well: If everyone really wants this team to stay in Miami, let's make it Prime Time...Make up big huge signs that say Save The Florida Marlins ...Take them to ANY game you go to: MIami DOlphins, Florida Panthers, Miami Heat, hell even if you are at someone else's home turf, bring the signs...Bring one to every Spring Training game next year and every Marlins game next year no matter if it is HOME or AWAY... The point being: Every single game someone is at with a sign has a good shot of showing up on an ESPN highlight clip... If enough people start seeing these signs everynight on Sports Center, maybe some key people will step up and help save the team...Our voices may not be "heard", but they will be seen Also, anywhere you go, even if it at a sporting event or if you are shopping in downtown Miami, wear as much '97 or '03 post season apparel as you can...keep reminding people what this team did in such a short time...

November 27, 200520 yr I'm glad that more and more people are joining the myspace site, but: "Yea we gotta go to the games, u know we got to show da marlins our support and that we do care, i may be wrong but i think tehy began around 1991, somethin like dat, and we already won the world series 2 times, thier are other teams that were there way before use and haven't won once, i say we show our appreciation and go to thier games, tough some players may not be there, it doesn't matter, u never know, miguel cabrera came from the Triple A and look at him now, we should go to the games, scream our asses off, and with all the support they get, u never know wut can happen." If these are the kinds of people that are going to try and help us save this team in South Florida, we may be screwed... :confused

November 27, 200520 yr Well, no matter how ppl view what is happening as a realistic situation, a firesale, or a threat, next year's attendance is gonna sum it up...Either the fans show up or they don't... Either Miami will come out or it won't... Now more than even, South Florida will help determine the Marlins' fate
November 30, 200520 yr Has anyone tried contacting Joe Rose? Just wondering. I think several people have tried emailing him, but hasn't responded back.
November 30, 200520 yr So now what can we do? Miami is pretty much out of it. Miami has been out of it since Samson said the team will no longer negotiate with the city. It's up to the County, Wayne, and the Marlins now.
December 1, 200520 yr :banghead i'm a season ticket holder from boca raton.i want to help save the marlins too. i think we all need to suck up to huizenga and jeb bush. at least they want to negotiate.
December 4, 200520 yr The state of Washington did something like this to raise revenue for Safeco Field: Sell auto tags in Florida with the logos of each major league team. We have so many people in the state from other locales, I am sure they would love to show their loyalties. Take the extra revenue and put it towards the $30 million shortfall...
