If this franchise were to relocate..

Featured Replies

I'll probably go back to my Braves roots unless in the unlikely situation, the Marlins move to Orlando.

Here's my situation.

yes, i will still support them. Maybe its a bit easier for me since I live up here in PA and they are not my "hometown" team in the first place, but it would still to be hard to call them something different. Besides, I really have no team to fall-back on anyway.

Maybe if they go to Portland they can at least keep the fish trend. Anyone for the Portland Salmon?

I'm a fan of the Florida Marlins because they're the home town team. If they betray South Florida,no way in hell I support the organization. They would probably beat the Yankees as my least favorite team.

If they DID move, wouldn't South Florida have betrayed the Marlins, both in the lack of fan support AND political support for a new stadium?

wow, everyone is saying yes. what connection do you have w/ the team anymore? the initial connection is that they are from your home town ( for most of you this is the case) hell, 2 years after relocation they won't have any of the same players on the roster. so there goes that connection. how is there a connection that will force you guys to still root for them?

It depends on where they move, if they change the name to somthing corny or just end up in what I would think to be another unsuccessful market, I might see what my other options are. I would choose the Mets if they relocated but I would not like to look like a front runner, I might end up with the Nats, A's, or Dodgers :confused

In the mean time, I just want the organization to start becoming like a normal one in which we don't have to have so many financial problems :(

No.

There's about a 60-40 chance I'd give up baseball all together.

No 60-40 for me, it'll be given up for sure 100% altogether.

In State - Yes

Out of State - to a degree, although I would likely go back to rooting for the Braves as my #1.

I lived in Miami until my family moved 90 miles north of tampa in 99, I'm 21 now. So if the marlins left the state, I would turn to the D-Rays to fill the void in my life. *sigh* :confused Even though I no longer live in Miami, I still consider Miami, my hometown.

No, I don't even live in the USA so it's not like it's my hometown team or whatever, but I love Florida and been to Miami a few times. If they stay in Florida or somewhere on the east coast I will probably still support them but if they move somewhere else, like Portland, I would probably root for the Red Sox (east coast teams are easier to follow, less time diference :p ).

Yes.. I'm young enough to have only followed the Florida Marlins and if they were to relocate I'd cheer and root for that organization that filled my baseball void for my 17 years.

This is the case, unless, another team is brought to South Florida.

''east coast teams are easier to follow, less time diference '' Oh do I know that, Im living in the UK, and last season I stayed up till 12:00 am some times 1:00 am to watch them, as you can tell, am a night owl. If the marlins move to the west coast, I will have to stay up till 3:00am to watch the start of the game! And that is just to late to stay up almost every night, so I hope they stay on the east coast.

I refuse to support the Washington Nationals (GoNats) especially after they removed all traces of Expos history.

So for Marlins fans, I would say screw the team if they leave and cheer for a small market club, anything to keep the few remaining alive.

Most of the few baseball fans in Montreal divided between Toronto, Boston, Yankees, Nationals and Marlins, but the majority lost interest.

Thats sad! I would probably do the same because I live for the Marlins and only the Marlins.

If they move, I will move with them. I have no ties to South Florida except the Marlins.

Although I was born and raised in South Florida, the Marlins will still be my team if/when they move. The way I look at it is that no matter where the team calls home, they will still be the same organization that brought South Florida 2 championships. They may not be apart of the community anymore, but I will still remember the joy that the Florida Marlins provided me, and that joy will be appreciated even if they move.

Contraction would just sour me on Major League Baseball for a long time...
