Skully
I'm ready for the season to start.. This guy is gonna be awesome... http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla
prinmemito
I'm excited to see Jake play first base for us next season. If it weren't for his season ending injury in 2004 you would have seen him starting at first base for the Mets this past season. He's got a high ceiling, IMO. A .300 25-30HR, 90-110 RBI kind of guy. Mike Lowell type numbers from a couple of years ago. A good #5 hitter.
mr_eob
He's got the makings of a young Texeira but from the other side of the plate. I know he wont disapoint, its gonna be great to watch all this talent grow together in the upcoming years.
formerbatboy03
Texeira is a switch hitter
Fishfan79
I am not ready to call the guy the next helton, Texiera or puljos.
prinmemito
He'll probably end up being a Mike Lowell in his prime - .300 25-30 hr 90-110 RBI. Those are ideal numbers for a five hitter. Hermida will probably end up being a .310 20-25hr 90-110 RBI 20-25 SB and high OBP (high .390-.400).
QuickGold
Simmer down, I'll get excited when I see him producing on an everyday basis
IrishHarrington
I like Jacobs, I dont think our offense will be the problem ....our pitching and defense is going to be shakey. Too be honest I dont really remember much about Jacobs defense hopefully the kid has a glove then again probably wont be much worse than Delgado's range (one foot in either direction )
AAS
where was jacobs born?
MarlinatPenn
he's hit at every level of the minors and in the 100 at-bats he had last year at the major league level... he is struggling in Venezuela at the moment though... I'm excited to see him too.

CyggyMarlin
"Going deep in his first at-bat immediately gives Jacobs something in common with Marlins rookie right fielder Jeremy Hermida. Ten days after Jacobs' big debut, Hermida went one step further. Entering as a pinch-hitter against the Cardinals, the 21-year-old outfielder smacked a grand slam. " If Hermida and Jacobs both show they can hit consistently at the big-league level, these guys might be having some friendly competition at the plate in the future, it'd be fun to watch... I like Jacobs attitude, especially having all these young guys mesh together and go thru the season and develope...

Skully
Let's give them both 500 AB's before we start proclaiming any of them the second coming. Hey man.. we're all excited we have something to look forward to. I'm not saying we'll see Jacobs starting the All Star game this coming season, but I think he's gonna be exciting to watch.... as will Hermida. And for that, I'm looking forward to it. After the 2nd firesale in franchise history, we need something to look forward to and less negativity...Even if these kids get only 100ABs next year, I'll still be rooting for them
MarlinYankee3542
He might be the next Delgado, but not as much injures.

MarlinFan10
The Jacobs deal and the deal with the Red Sox are really the only two trades where I think the Marlins got a pretty fair deal.
PBMarlin
He'll probably end up being a Mike Lowell in his prime - .300 25-30 hr 90-110 RBI. If he can just do that it would be fantastic. We need a more balanced lineup. Any power he can show will offer protection for Cabrera and Hermida.

Never said they wouldn't be fun to watch...just don't get youg hopes up for them in '06. That's all, when I think about a good young player I expect them to age into greatness, not just appear and be amazing.

champkind
He might be the next Delgado, but not as much injures. Maybe better defense too No need to take cheap shots at the guy who in his only season goes down as the best Marlins 1B of all-time. If anything Jacobs already has more injury issues as Delgado has had in his whole career. And don't even try to tell me Derek Lee ever had a season anywhere near what Delgado did, atleast not with us. That being said I'm expecting Jacobs to hit 50 HR's based on his projections from last year.
