CardsJimEdmonds15
Marlins sign Reese, Borowski December 29, 2005 MIAMI (AP) -- Infielder Pokey Reese and right-hander Joe Borowski signed one-year contracts Thursday with the Florida Marlins. Reese spent all of last season on the disabled list with the Seattle Mariners following surgery on his right shoulder. He hit .221 in 96 games with Boston in 2004. A two-time Gold Glove winner, Reese has batted .248 with 44 home runs and 271 RBIs over eight seasons in the majors. He's a potential successor to Luis Castillo, traded to Minnesota as part of the Marlins' offseason payroll purge. Borowski went 1-5 with a 4.47 ERA in 43 games last season for the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay. He is 14-23 with 44 saves and a 3.90 ERA in nine seasons in the majors. The Marlins are his sixth team If posted, sorry!

Hotcorner
nope, not posted yet. Good signing of Pokey, in case one of our infield spots doesn't pan out. Borowski's a solid arm to add to the pen. Good moves. The players themselves are nothing spectacular, but both will help with a very young team. MarlinatPenn
Pokey brings them solid defense... Borowski brings them experience in the 'pen and this gives him opportunity, so ... good moves I guess...

ultimopain
beinfest is a stud GM about the only good guy in the front office for the fish I totally agree. Beinfest might be the most creative and resourceful GM there is considering what he has to work with. I think he's done an amazing job in building this team for the future. ChambersWI
good moves. Pokey can start at 2nd or if Uggla/HanRam don't do well, and he is also a decent bench player to have. Borowski, if nothing else, can help tutor our young pen.
andyfinfan
so we now have pokey, miguel olivo 2 real good defensive players.we have hitting for sure this year , we just need some proven arms in the bullpen and I think we will be good this year. Iowa
Borowski will be a great influence to the guys in the pen.. Nobody has worked harder to get to the majors than him. A great guy to have.
