Have we sunk this low? so what are we suppose to do say these are bad signings because there not they are good defensive players reese and olivo. and borowski is a godd veteran. rememberdefense and pitching is the key to success and i like these small moves.

But yeah, for the record, I'm pleased with the sub-par major leaguers we've picked up.

Admin, you could have at least gotten a guy who has enough strength to get the bat off his shoulder. For those of you salivating over Joe Frisaro's statement that that Reese hit .321 in 2004 (he was out all of 2005) ITS A TYPO, the guy hit .221 !!!!!!!!! BTW, two days and counting and still not a syllable from the Marlins regarding Oliva. Hmmm...

Have we sunk this low? Yes. Amezaga was the veteran presence in the infield until now. He has more MLB AB then Hanley, Andino, Wilson, and Uggla. Now atleast we have somebody that has played baseball before.

December 29, 200520 yr Marlins signed infielder Pokey Reese, who had been with the Mariners, to a one-year contract. The Marlins already had Reese in the form of Alfredo Amezaga. Reese is probably better, but he's also one of the game's most injury-prone players. For that reason, he shouldn't be anything more than a backup. Unfortunately, we have the feeling that he'll start at second base even if Hanley Ramirez beats him out for the shortstop job. Dec. 29 - 6:48 pm et Marlins signed RHP Joe Borowski, who had been with the Devil Rays, to a one-year contract. We thought the Marlins might try to trade for Borowski in a Joey Gathright deal. Now they might have gotten him cheaper than they would have as an arbitration-eligible, though he'll probably be the second-highest paid player on the team behind Dontrelle Willis. It's very likely that Borowski will go into the season as Florida's closer. He might not be good for more than 25 saves in that role, but he'll have some fantasy value. This team isnt going to score many runs, Pokey is not the savior by any means. This team will score more than last year where all our offense came from migs and delgado... willy, migs, hermy, and jacobs will do better than the core did last year
December 30, 200520 yr I really hope Reese was signed to a minor league deal. Who knows if he can even play anymore? If we wanted someone to disrupt the youth movement and set a bad example at the plate for all the kids, I can't think of a better guy, hmmm...maybe Chuck Carr is available too. Oh BTW, Frisaro has already edited his piece at the Marlins website changing his original ".321" to ".221". If they wanted a second baseman who can still deliver offensively and can play SS as well, Rich Aurilia is sitting out there for small $$$.
