***Official Prediction Thread***

Featured Replies

it's that time of year again, only a month earlier this time.... we figure it would be more fun when making predictions on stats, to make predictions on who is going to get the most PT as well...

so predict the following

1) predict the Marlins record(162 games remember)

2) predict the Marlins era and wins/losses, saves(for the relievers)

3) predict the avg, hr, rbi, sb

4) and finally predict which Marlins are All Stars and which win a Gold Glove

good luck and dont post any needless commentary in here, just your predictions...

2003 thread

Record: 74-88

Hitting:

Aguila - .279 14 HR 61 RBI 18 SB

Uggla - .275 18 HR 72R BI 6 SB

Hermida - .287 22 HR 89 RBI 19 SB

Cabrera - .335 37 HR 127 RBI 3 SB

Jacobs .285 25 HR 95 RBI 3 SB

Willingham - .284 23 HR 87 RBI 3 SB

Ramirez - .271 8 HR 59 RBI 18 SB

Olivo - .255 13 HR 57 RBI 2 SB

I should add that I think if Miggy doesn't feel compelled to hit a bunch of homeruns and just goes with the flow he will win the batting title. I'd say about a .350 Avg, but with less homeruns (about 30-33).

Starting Rotation:

Willis 21-7 2.42

Moehler 9-13 4.23

Vargas 12-9 3.56

Mitre 6-11 4.21

Petit 12-8 3.80

Relievers:

Bump 2-5 4.56

Resop 2-3 4.12 1 save

Borowski 1-4 3.76 16 saves

Bowyer 1-4 2.93 22 Saves

I don't know the other relievers enough to make a prediction.

THE TEAMS RECORD WILL BE:

51-111

BE REALISTIC, THERE ARE NO MORE THAN 4 PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM THAT WOULD MAKE ANYONE ELSE'S MAJOR LEAGUE ROSTER.

BATTING AVERAGES, HOMERUNS, RBI'S:

CHRIS AGUILA .250, 6 HR, 39 RBI, 16 SB, 12 CS

HANLEY RAMIREZ .235, 5 HR, 45 RBI

JEREMY HERMIDA .280, 17 HR, 76 RBI

MIGUEL CABRERA .281, 25 HR, 95 RBI (150K's)

MIKE JACOBS .275, 15 HR, 64 RBI, ON 15 DAY DL 2X's

JOSH WILLINGHAM .262, 12 HR, 56 RBI

DAN UGGLA .240, 11 HR, 40 RBI

MIGUEL OLIVO .234, 8 HR, 37 RBI

THAT LINEUP SUCKS. THE HEART OF THE ORDER IS OKAY, BUT THEY WILL BE COMING TO THE PLATE WITH THE BASES EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME. YOU PEOPLE ARE NUTS IF YOU THINK THIS TEAM WON'T LOSE 100 OR MORE GAMES. AS BAD AS THE HITTING WILL BE- THE ROTATION WILL BE EVEN WORSE.

THE ROTATION:

DONTRELLE WILLIS 12-14 4.11 ERA

JASON VARGAS 11-16 4.77 ERA

Y PETIT 1-5 9.50 ERA

BRIAN MOEHLER (BEFORE MOVE TO BULLPEN) 1-4 6.25 ERA

JOSH JOHNSON 3-6 5.65 ERA

CRAPPY JOURNEYMAN VETERAN 1-4 4.90 ERA

SCOTT OLSEN 9-11 4.30 ERA

SERGIO MITRE 11-13 4.70 ERA

OVERALL= 48-73

THE BULLPEN:

NATE BUMP 1-4 4.66 ERA

JOE BOROWSKI 1-9

TRAVIS BOWYER 0-5 5.91 ERA

LOGAN KENSING 0-5 5.25 ERA

A BUNCH OF TERRIBLE GUYS WHO SHOULD BE DRIVING BEER TRUCKS: 1-19 9.75 ERA

FACE IT PEAOPLE- I LOVE BASEBALL, AND I WILL GO TO GAMES BECAUSE OF THAT, BUT THIS TEAM IS GOING TO BE AWFUL. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A MAJOR LEAGUE PRODUCT, YOU ARE IN FOR A VERY LONG YEAR... HAVE FUN WATCHING THE KIDS DEVELOP, THAT'S MY ONLY ADVICE. SOME OF THEM MAY BECOME SOMETHING. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY BE MORE FRUSTRATING THAN LAST YEAR'S UNDERACHIEVERS. THE BOTTOM THREE IN THE ROTATION WILL BE A REVOLVING DOOR, AND WE WILL BE BETTER TOWARD THE END OF THE SEASON ONCE WE FIGURE OUT WHO FITS IN WHERE... WE WILL HAVE THE WORST RECORD IN BASEBALL AT THE ALLSTAR BREAK WITHOUT QUESTION... CABRERA WILL BE OUR LONE REPRESENTATIVE- AND HE WONT HAVE QUALITY NUMBERS AT THAT POINT...

DEAL WITH IT, PEOPLE.... IT IS AFTER ALL, JUST A GAME!

Not the order of the lineup:

Miguel Cabrera .330, 35 HR, 105 RBI, 0 SB

Jeremy Hermida .300, 12 HR 78 RBI, 18 SB

Josh Willingham .285 17 HR 80 RBI 1 SB

Mike Jacobs .287 24 HR 90 RBI 2 SB

Dan Uggla- .260 7 HR 34 RBI

Miguel Olivo .238 5 RBI 30 RBI 0 SB

Eric Reed- .275 2 HR, 30 RBI 20 SB

Hanley Ramirez .250 3 HR 15 RBI 5 SB

Pokey Reese- .265 4 HR 27 RBI 5 SB

Chris Aguila .250 2 HR 12 RBI 3 SB

Wes Helms .270 6 HR 30 RBI 1 SB

Rotation:

I figure some of these youngsters will be called up and replace Mitre and Moehler.

It's hard to project the bullpen, so I say Borowski gets about 15-20 saves and Bowyer gets around 10-15 saves. Joe Bo gets traded at deadline and Bowyer takes over full time after that.

THE TEAMS RECORD WILL BE:

YOU SIR KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!! Hey I love the fish...always will! But I Love baseball more (if that makes sense) what the Marlins have done this season is nothing short of a baseball crime (in case anyone is wondering...they are not just downsizing salary...they are trying to MOVE OUT). 65% of this team will be traveling from the minors to the majors during the season. Most our pitchers won't get the chance to lose 10 games because they will just be replaced. Want a more realistic QUESTION? How Many Different Pitchers do you think the Marlins will have this Season? How many people will be sent up and down from the minors. Dontrell will not get support...Migs will not see a strike...an I'll be happy if two of the rookie starters remain on the team the entire season!

Bout time I did this.

78-84

Rotation at year's end:

Dontrelle Willis: 17-8, 2.97 ERA, 170 Ks

Jason Vargas: 14-11, 4.05 ERA, 140 Ks

Scott Olsen: 13-12, 3.78 ERA, 195 Ks

Yusmeiro Petit: 6-1, 2.64 ERA, 75 Ks

Josh Johnson: 9-5, 3.50 ERA, 80 Ks

Travis Bowyer: 2.90 ERA, 65 Ks

Joe Borowski: 1.87 ERA, 30 Ks

Logan Kensing: 3.05 ERA, 40 Ks

Nate Bump: 2.80 ERA, 40 Ks

Then a lot of garbage

Reed- .260, 0 HR, 32 RBI, 54 SB

Shadez- .285, 11 HR, 60 RBI, 24 SB

The Messiah- .310, 25 HR, 90 RBI, 21 SB

Miguelito- .327, 41 HR, 119 RBI, 1 SB

Thor- .275, 27 HR, 81 RBI, 11 SB (someone's going to lie to him and tell him he has wheels)

Hammertime- .265 (.380 OBP though!), 18 HR, 75 RBI, 8 SB

Olivo- .250, 12 HR, 58 RBI, 3 SB

OOOOOOgla- .280, 19 HR, 81 RBI (!!!!!)

All Stars: Cabrera, Willis, Messiah on the final man ballot but does not get the fan's votes

Gold Gloves: Maybe one of the pitchers. I'll go with Willis

Right now I'm going to say 75-87. I think that after a very slow start, these guys will go on a tear about the last month and a half or so in the season. Look for a third or fourth place finish out of them.

it's that time of year again, only a month earlier this time.... we figure it would be more fun when making predictions on stats, to make predictions on who is going to get the most PT as well...

so predict the following

1) predict the Marlins record(162 games remember)

2) predict the Marlins era and wins/losses, saves(for the relievers)

3) predict the avg, hr, rbi, sb

4) and finally predict which Marlins are All Stars and which win a Gold Glove

good luck and dont post any needless commentary in here, just your predictions...
