September 6, 200323 yr I say we need to lock up Lowell as soon as we can, unless he doesn't recover well from the hand injury, which is unlikely.
September 6, 200323 yr what about bringing in someone different no thanks... unless his last name starts with G and ends with uerrero
September 6, 200323 yr Hmmm. We can save payroll and go after a 1 and maybe 2 FA. Let Enc, Lee, Pudge, LC go.. Then you Have FA ($?), Conine (3 mil), castro (300k?), Adam Kennedy Signing? Raise the Payroll and you can sign 1-2 top FA...
September 6, 200323 yr lowell and AJ, even with a diminished offense, having AJ, Dontrelle, beckett, and MAYBE penny, should keep the team some what competitive, there is also pavano and of course redman.....so we have 6 starters to tinker with, thats not even counting helling.....im going off on tangents here......i would love lowell back, and i dont think it would be hard to sign AJ, peace
September 6, 200323 yr lowell is the second best third baseman in the league. but his second half numbers are less than encouraging. still you have to resign him.
September 6, 200323 yr Lowell is a free agent? Lowell IS NOT a free agent. He is arbitration eligible.
September 6, 200323 yr Author I hope that A.J. will not ask for too much if we decide to try and keep him. This morning's herald article was encouraging.
September 6, 200323 yr Here would be my priorities on who to keep this offseason. 1. Lowell 2. AJ (even if we lose a couple of our starters as long as we keep our great staff together then we'll be in the playoff race.) 3. Castillo (a lot of people here don't realize how important he is to this team, I don't care if he doesn't steal as much as he used to.) 4. Pudge (This kind of depends on the Castro situation) 5. Lee
September 7, 200323 yr SHould keep the entire starting pitching staff and add AJ. *Pitching wins games) Should resign Lowell. Should resign Pudge Get rid of Hollandsworth. Enc Castillo will not be resigned. Based on what I see, he is hurting (hip) and we can find a cheaper alternative. For defense, I would entertain Pokey Reese as a cheap alternative. D Lee is the big question?>
September 7, 200323 yr why is DLee the big question? and no thanks on Pokey, id rather have someone from the minors or McKeon playing there
September 7, 200323 yr I have a feeling the Mets are going to make a strong run at AJ. IMO AJ and Lowell should be the Top Priority.
September 7, 200323 yr AJ isnt a free agent though..... so let them make a push and i think they would rather someone like Millwood for next year, not a rehab project
September 7, 200323 yr Its obvious what we need to do. Take DNA from Lowell and Lee, and genetically engineer a perfect mix of them. That way, Derike Leewell would play well in the first and second halves of the season. I can't believe no one has thought of that.
