Featured Replies

Okay!! I won't talk about Sammy anymore!! :hat

Lets get everyone's projected opening day lineup

1)Reed CF

2)Uggla 2nd base

3)Jacobs 1st base

4)Cabrera 3rd base :notworthy

5)Hermidia RF

6)Willingham C

7)Ramirez SS

8)Aguila (I guess) LF

9)Dontrelle would be 7th when he pitches :cool

I like that lefty, righty lineup w/ d-train in there :thumbup

Place the national league east

Atlanta

NY

Florida (Hopefully higher up) :banghead

Philly

Washington

Reed/Aguila CF

Ramirez SS

Hermida RF

Cabrera 3b

Jacobs 1b

Willy LF

Olivo C

Uggla/Reese 2b

Pitcher

Hopefully Abercrombie or some other center fielder comes in and miraculously tears it up in spring so we don't have to see Reed or Aguila out there.

Dude, I love your optimism but this team will finish last. The only question is whether they lose 100 games.

I hope that the Marlins brass has enough sense to give Hanley another year in the minors. His 2005 doesn't merit a big league job, even if it is on the worst team in the majors. I hope Willy can learn to be a backstop this spring, because having Olivo at C would be brutal. That said, the best possibe outcome for the long term future of this team would be:

CF Reed

C Willingham

RF Hermida

3B Cabrera

1B Jacobs

LF Aguila

2B Uggla

SS Reese

Pitcher

I can't agree with the notion that having Olivo as the primary catcher in 2006 will be "brutal".

He is clearly the catcher of choice defensively and the key to his offense will be where he bats and whether Girardi can fashion a lineup that affords him some protection. For example, assuming the above more or less, if Olivo bats sixth after Jacobs and Uggla seventh, he's going to see a reasonable number of hittable pitches.

1. Some CF, hopefully not Reed, I suspect a trade soon. Maybe we can get Lyle Mouton or Ryan Mcquire. HA

2.Uggghhh-TWO B.

3.Cabs-3b

4.Hermida-rf

5.Willingham-Leftus Fieldelius

6.Jacobs- 1b

7.Olivo-C

8. Hanley R./Reese-SS

just for fun heres mine

SS Ramirez

LF Willingham

RF Hermida

3B The Boy

1B Jacobs

2B Uggla

CF Reed/aguila (gathright if we cna get him wihtout losing olsen)

C Olivo

P The Last Don

1. Reed - CF

2. Uggla - 2b

3. Hermida - RF

4. Cabrera - 3b

5. Jacobs - 1b

6. Willingham - LF

7. Olivo - C

8. Pokey - SS

I also like the lefty righty set-up, particularly at this point because we have no reason to think anybody surrounding Cabrera is going to be overwhelmingly superior to the rest of the lineup. So hey, why not try to maximize our utility.

I would like to see Andino get in the games a little bit more as the season goes on, but for now, having a veteran on the field (Pokey) with these guys would seem to be more of an asset. Furthermore, I like the idea of our SS and Catcher (2 most important defensive positions) being solid on that side of the ball. By minimizing the careless miscues, it will hopefully allow the rest of the team to gain some confidence.

As for Hanley, I say wait till after the Super-Two deadline and then let him play short. At that point, based on play up until then, determine if Pokey, Uggla, or maybe even Andino deserve a chance to take over at second full time.

Finally, I would just like to say that I feel if Reed shows himself capable of coming close to replicating his numbers at the minor league level, which is clearly somewhat wishful thinking, this lineup has the potential to out produce last years offensively (that not saying very much).

Go Marlins...Beat them Canes!

1. SS Ramirez

2. C Willingham

3. RF Hermida

4. 3B Cabrera

5. 1B Jacobs

6. CF Aguila

7. LF Cepicky

8. 2B Uggla

Wouldn't mind seeing Ramirez have an extra year in the minors. Or Reed win the centerfield job, forcing Aguila to platoon between both LF and CF. I still prefer Reed's defense in center over Olivo's strong arm at catcher.

1. CF/SS Reed, Reese, Ramirez, Andino

2. RF Hermida

3. C Willingham

4. Cabrera

5. 1B Jacobs/Helms

6. LF Aguila/Helms

7. 2B Uggla

8. CF/SS Reed, Reese, Ramirez, Andino

*Also would like to see Han-Ram get another full year in the minors with a cup of coffee included.

*Leadoff spot is a real weakness in this lineup because I don't think anyone there can muster an OBP above 320. Aguila might, though....

*I hope Aguila breaks out to be an average LFer offensively. We know he's got above average speed and defense for the spot. Hoping for 750+ OPS.

*Really hope Uggla pans out because we have about ZERO options up the middle in our system.

*If Reese/Uggla win the SS/2B job I'd assume that Andino would start out in AAA with Ramirez in AA. This leaves Amezaga as our backup infielder and a guy who might even takeover for Reese/Uggla depending on their struggles.

*Willingham will be given the catcher's job and perform slightly below average defensively with top 5 offense at the position. Olivo gets about 200 PA to keep Willingham fresh, especially against LHP.

*Helms probably platoons with Jacobs against lefties and gets a few starts in LF against lefties as well.

Cf Reed

ss Ramirez

3b Cabrera

Rf Hermida

1b Jacobs

Lf Willingham

2b Uggla

c Olivo

I may consider switching Cabrera and Hermida due to Hermida's ability to collect walks

the lineup should score some runs for sure

I'm almost tempted to leadoff Hermida, because none of Reese, Ramirez, Andino, Reed will get on base for crap. Hermida, Willy, Cabs, Jacobs 1-4. Maybe good for a few extra 3-run homers over the course of a season.

SI preview of the Marlins suggested that Hermida might lead off. If we can't find an adequate to above average leadoff man, I think we should go with him.

With his power, we need him driving in runs and with Cabrera and Jacobs most likely batting 3rd and 4th respectively, we need someone who can drive them in.

but Hermz also gets on base alot as well as steals many o bases

*wipes drool thinking about how good he could be*

as long as Hermida-Jacobs-Hammer-Cabs are somewhere 1-5 in the lineup(all back to back and not necessarily in the order I have it as).... I will be very happy

Coming off the bench.

You guys leaving out Pokey Reese are sorely mistaken. He will be starting at either SS or 2B this season.

And if you don't think we're going to give Uggla and Ramirez every chance to earn the jobs you, sir, are sorely mistaken.
