April 16, 200620 yr Carlos has tightness in the throwing elbow...no particulars...Messenger has been called up to take his place until further notice
April 16, 200620 yr Crap, explains all that shaking of his arm he did today in his 2nd inning of work I suppose.
April 16, 200620 yr Where did you find this out Mr. Resop? Not saying you are wrong I just wondered where you heard the news.
April 16, 200620 yr Author Crap, explains all that shaking of his arm he did today in his 2nd inning of work I suppose. He was obviously experiencing something in that elbow...pitchers don't shake their throwing arms unless there is something wrong...discomfort of some kind.... Carlos throws all wrist...he needs to use that lower half instead of just the arm...hope it is nothing serious....now we will see what Messenger has... Where did you find this out Mr. Resop? Not saying you are wrong I just wondered where you heard the news. I have some ties in MLB
April 16, 200620 yr Well considering he's pitched more than 1 inning his last two appearances this isnt a surprise.
April 16, 200620 yr Why Messenger though? Why not Resop or someone like Sanchez? Messenger is just more of the same for what we have now except he isn't old.
April 16, 200620 yr Author Why Messenger though? Why not Resop or someone like Sanchez? Messenger is just more of the same for what we have now except he isn't old. no idea there.....Chris needs to go down and be more consistent with the strike zone...maybe they think Messenger can throw strikes....watch for Tankersley to be coming up soon....that is the lefty bullpen arm they will look at next.......he is doing well in AA so far...may need more seasoning though
April 16, 200620 yr I'll believe it when I see it Check my "Players comments" post and its in there. Sunday also produced another setback, as rookie reliever Carlos Martinez, who threw 39 pitches in two innings, suffered an elbow injury. Martinez is getting an MRI on the elbow and he didn't travel with the team after the game to Cincinnati. Martinez was part of a tense moment in the seventh inning. Floridamarlins.com
April 16, 200620 yr thank you for the information, I hope they dont bring up sanchez too soon I would rather keep him in the minors to keep growing.
April 16, 200620 yr Well, if we're grooming JJ and Nolasco for later starting roles by having them start off in the pen, why not do the same for Sanchez?
April 16, 200620 yr Author Since word is out that JJ and Nolasco are being groomed for starters after July, who is going to be bumped out of the starting rotation? Surmise that Moehler will be one but who is the other.....is D Train really being considered in a trade contrary to what the front office says
April 16, 200620 yr God I hope D-Train stays. Maybe they are both going to be starters but the best one wins? (I have no clue just trying to think of some crazy excuse).

Surmise that Moehler will be one but who is the other.....is D Train really being considered in a trade contrary to what the front office says? no. One of those two may be trade bait. And screw July, how about now?
April 17, 200620 yr I would've liked to have seen Brad Clontz get the call. He did well in AAA last year, and is back there this year. We would have to bump someone off the 40-man roster though....

I think he'd be the other one in danger of losing his spot. & Messenger called up instead of Resop??? :thumbdown

If getting rid of a Matt Herges is the price for that, I'm willing to make that sacrifice. Myself I think that Vargas isn't anything special and isn't gonna do anything special, his ceiling is probably as low as Mitre given that he doesn't have any kind of stuff and he hasn't been able to control himself this year.
April 17, 200620 yr That's really hurts. He is one of the most promising relievers we have. Messenger....yikes. I would have expected Resop to be called back.
