May 15, 200620 yr Septimo looks like another good Rule V pickup. Not sure if he has a future with the fish, but its nice to see that we can effectively use the Rule V draft.

May 17, 200620 yr Author Gaby Sanchez goes 4-4 with 2 2b and HR #12....4 RBI....Sanchez now batting .348 and has 18 walks to 17 K's. He's looking good. Kris Harvey hit 2 homers last night (6 total now). James Guerrero (2B) went 4-5 last night with 2 2b and a solo homer (#4). Aaron Thompson had a strong outing for win #3.
May 17, 200620 yr So how is Jesus doing, anyway? 17 G(all as reliever), 25.2 IP, 1 W, 2 L, 30 K/12 BB, 1.75 ERA, 1.03 WHIP (this was as up-to-date as I could find...maybe one of the MiLB followers could update if anything is currently wrong). Either way, looks like he will be a great bullpen addition sooner rather than later. Only thing is, 22 might be a tad old for Jupiter, not much though...and I assume he'll get called up at some point if he keeps throwing like he has. Very excited about him and Harvey Garcia, if they can do what they are doing in MiLB at the big level, and Sanchez pitches to potential...then wow, great trade that'll turn out to be.
May 17, 200620 yr How old is Gaby? He's knocking the ball, but I'd like to see him do that (and the patience thing) in Jupiter and Carolina.
May 17, 200620 yr Author How old is Gaby? He's knocking the ball, but I'd like to see him do that (and the patience thing) in Jupiter and Carolina. Next to every prospect's name, I have shown their age on page 1 of the thread. Gaby is 22. Greensboro is a hitter's league. Some players from last year's Greensboro team (J.T. Restko and Brad McCann have struggled a little bit in Jupiter (a pitcher's league) this year). I want to see Sanchez do this at the higher levels as well. May 17, 200620 yr Thanks! I guess Thompson is doing pretty well, then. You said Greensboro is a hitter's league, and he's producing good stats--I'm liking that. Campusano interests me, but you have to cringe at that K/BB. :thumbdown Sean West...man, I wish I could actually see him pitch. Do you know where I can catch clips or video of our boys in action?
May 18, 200620 yr Author Tonight, Jared Gaston took his 1st walk! 1 BB/ 29 Ks on the season. Kris Harvey hit homer #7....he's a very streaky hitter. 2B-Kevin Randel has homered in back to back games....he has a .284 BA now.
May 19, 200620 yr Author So much for Gaby Hernandez winning FSL pitcher of the week. He allowed 10 hits in 3.1 IP tonight raising his ERA to 5.36. He has unlimited potential and keep in mind he is still just 19 years old. Gaby Sanchez played catcher tonight for the Grasshoppers. He is ready for a promotion. Brett Hayes slugged a homer tonight as well. The catcher is now hitting .293.
May 19, 200620 yr Are they trying Gaby at different positions to see what he is better at? I remember someone saying he is horrible at fielding. First he was at 3rd, then 1st, now catcher.
May 19, 200620 yr 2- Kris Harvey, 22 (RH) .256, 7 HR, 21 RBI (7 BB/25 K) Greensboro he is getting it back together that average is slowly climbing up
May 20, 200620 yr Author Hayes has the best D of any catcher we have in the minors. His offense is suspect but he's playing good so far.
May 20, 200620 yr Author Tonight's Stars..... Taylor Tankersley gets win #3 (3-1). He pitches 2 scoreless with 4 Ks. He now has a 1.25 ERA. I have a feeling that he will be with the Marlins soon. Brad McCann goes 2-4 raising his average to .232. Jesus Delgado continues to dominate! He went 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K...his ERA is now 1.55. Keep an eye on Scott Nestor, who is now healthy. Once a starter, Nestor is an innings eater who has started the season off pitching 10.2 IP with only 3 hits allowed. Daniel Barone went 8.2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 10 K.....he is now 4-0 and ready for a promotion. Gaby Sanchez hit homer #13....his stats now (.340, 13 HR, 37 RBI in 40 games)...his strike zone judgement is awesome also 21 BBs/17 Ks.....he is ready for a promotion. Jeffrey Van Houten hit homer #9. Agustin Septimo hit homer #6....the small 5"11, 170 pounder has some pop. He's also a lefty.
May 20, 200620 yr Does anyone have a scouting report on Jose Garcia? What kind of pitches does he throw and how is his velocity? Thanks.
May 20, 200620 yr Author Does anyone have a scouting report on Jose Garcia? What kind of pitches does he throw and how is his velocity? Thanks. http://stubobcats.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl.../020206aab.html -2005-A new addition to the Greensboro roster is right-handed pitcher Jose Garcia. Garcia joins the Grasshoppers from extended spring training in Jupiter, FL. Only 20 years old, this is Garcia's fourth season with the Florida Marlins organization. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2001. Since then, he has spent all three seasons in the Dominican Summer League. During his three seasons with the DSL, Garcia was 10-11 with a 1.92 ERA. He allowed 146 hits and 38 earned runs while striking out 213 batters. That's all I could find on him...old stuff....he's only 5'11 and 165 lbs.- always putting up good stats though.
May 21, 200620 yr Author Nic Ungs wins game #6! Continues his impressive work..... Jose Garcia also K's 7 in 5.2 IP but took the loss.
May 21, 200620 yr Who is getting tha DFA, because Nic 'Rule V' Ungs is on fiya To think all you haters were so ready to let him leave. He deserves as much of a chance as most of these guys blowing BIG LEAGUE games for the Fish. Anibal is the only guy I'd rather see ahead of him at this point, but at the same time--you want to give Sanchez as much experience and practice as possible--polish him some more. So Ungs should be next. We know Pretty Boy is getting the waive once Hermida is back; But to make room on the 40, you have to get rid of an older guy (no way they designate a prospect, no matter who he is) Herpes, I'm sorry to say it--but you are the prime candidate.
