June 9, 200620 yr Can someone tell me alittle about Doolittle? 51K's in 42 innings. That is sick. And ONLY 27 hits. Todd Doolittle came in next. I was pretty excited to see him pitch after looking at his numbers on the year and hi definitely did not disappoint. He was nasty. 2 innings for scoreless ball giving up one hit with 4 Ks. He has a lively fastball at 91-92 mph with a diiirrrty curve which was about 71-72. The thing was fooling hitters left and right. Then he mixed in his change at 81ish every now and then. June 10, 200620 yr Author Tonight's stars.... Paul Mildren went 7 IP, 0 ER, and 9 K's. Todd Doolittle continues to blow people away with 2.1 scoreless IP and 3 K's. The guy has a 0.61 ERA!

June 10, 200620 yr Need to see Doolittle replicate this performance at a higher level, he is a 23 year old in low A so his dominance whilst great to see, isnt a sure guide yet.

June 11, 200620 yr Author I've added Carlos Piste (SS) 6'1- 21 years old and Colin Roberson (OF) 6'5- 22 years old to the list. We've picked them up and they have started playing well in their 1st few games....worth keeping an eye on. Tonight's stars (saturday)... Matt Yourkin picked up his 2nd save....he keeps under the radar but always puts up good numbers. Lee Mitchell homered twice tonight (8 total) and knocked in 4 runs. Jose Garcia moved up to Double A and picked up a win going 6 IP and 0 ER. He's had as good of year as anyone in the Marlins system.
June 11, 200620 yr Author We got Piste for Jorg. Thanks....did not know. I know Piste's stats in the past aren't too impressive but a 6'1 SS at 21 years old...maybe some potential there. Anyway, Jorg's stats this year.... .242, 4 HR, 10 RBI (17 BB/17 K) Looks like his hitting is improving but he is 27 years old now.

"Garcia, 21, might end up in the pen because of his slight build, but he has quite a bit of potential and might even become a closer someday." He is 5'11 and only 165 lbs. but he gets good results.

June 12, 200620 yr I found this piece on Garcia from another site: http://marlinsminors.mostvaluablenetwork.com/ After dominating high-A Jupiter for over 2 months, Marlins righthander Jose Garcia got the promotion to double-A Carolina. His first outing for the Mudcats was fantastic. He went 6 innings, gave up 5 hits and 1 run(unearned) while walking 3 and striking out 4 in the Mudcats win. Before the promotion earlier in the week, Garcia had been 6-2 with a 1.87era in 12 appearances for the Jupiter Hammerheads, 11 of them being starts. In his 77 innings, he struck out 69 while walking just 16 and giving up only 60 hits. In only his second season in America (his first 3 years were spent with the Dominican Summer League), Garcia has cemented himself as the next big Marlins pitching prospect. At just 21 years old, Jose was 13-11 with a 1.97era in 48 games in his professional career before this season. His fastball ranges from 90-93mph with it topping out at 95 occasionally. He has shown a solid changeup for his age level and talent level but it still needs improvement for it to be a ?plus? 2nd pitch. His 3rd pitch is a slider that if improved could someday be his most impressive pitch, but right now it?s not even a solid complementary one. Though some scouts believe he could be a devastating set-up man in the future, there is a small faction of scouts who believe Garcia reminds them of Pedro Martinez. In the same build as Pedro, the 5 foot 11 Garcia has an easygoing personality and teammates love him. Sounds alot like Pedro?. something I could get used to.

June 13, 200620 yr I wonder if Reggie might soon get the boot to AAA, moving Hermida to CF, and letting Borchard, Aguila, and Ross battle for ABs along with spotting Hammer in LF. Not saying I support Hermida in CF full-time, but it's a course management may take, especially considering Girardi's comments on his defense out there.

June 14, 200620 yr Author Tuesday's stars.... Gaby Hernandez pitched 5 innings allowing 3 ER but he K'd 10! He won his Marlin farm system high 7th game (7-3). Harvey Garcia saved his 12th game. Jupiter had a double-header today and J.T. Restko is finally coming around. He hit a solo homer in game 1 and went 2-3 in game 2. This guy can hit. Chris Volstad went 7 IP with 0 ER but somehow took a loss. He allowed 3 unearned runs. Recently promoted Brett Carroll (Carolina) went 2-4 with a double, triple, and 3 RBI. Eric Reed went 2-4.
