I have family in the Greensboro area and they go to many games. I've seen many future Fish play as well....basically from what I know is....

-Greg Burns is going to be a good hitter. He has had some tough luck so far but he can be a starting CF in the majors one day. He is the fastest Marlin in the minors (with Campusano 2nd) and he plays great D like Eric Reed.

-Andrew Jenkins was a big time slugger in college who needs to cut down on the K's. He changed positions in the offseason (from 1B to C). I have no clue how he is doing defensively however his offense will not be a problem.

It's funny that some of our best minor league hitters (Andrew Jenkins, Gabe Sanchez, and Brad McCann were all catchers at one time)

4- Ben Julianel (0-0) 0.71 ERA (12.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 6 K) Sleeper of the year...should be Marlins lefty option

He's almost 27 and doesn't have a great strikeout rate (he's also starting but projects as a reliever, which is I assume why you listed him as such). I wouldn't call him a sleeper. Right away, that jumped out at me.

And your stats on Jose Garcia are wrong.

Me thinks they need to move Gaby Sanchez to another position, fast. Like maybe CF or 2B.

you dont see that move often.... 1b to 2b or cf

I wish they would try him more at catcher

but he is atrocious anywhere in the field

thanks man, great writeup. Could you replace RBI and HR with EBH and BB/K ratio next time. RBI is pretty useless, especially at the minor league level.

Ben Julianel is a lefty and would be good in our pen now. He used to be one of the top prospects in baseball. Strikeout rates aren't everything especially when the Fish have plenty of big time arms.

Most of the info you provided is false. Sorry

and Ben Julianel was never a top propsect, much less a top prospect in baseball

Second Base

no prospects

No prospects? Isn't Andino playing 2nd now?

Who is playing second for us throughout our system?

Could Psomas play second?

:mischief2

Burns can cover a ton of ground in CF. He made a couple of great catches when I saw him play.

Gaby is not good in the field. He is way too big of a guy to be playing second base and definitely not cnterfield. I could see him in RF or LF though. I agree with Ramp that he should get more looks at catcher.

I didn't realize that Jenkins was a converted 1B. Again it's only from one game, but he didn't look good at all behind the plate when I saw, but if he is just learning the position then he isn't doing that bad. As the season goes on I'll be able to tell you more about him. (Assuming he doesn't get promoted when Hayes is healthy)

Burns can cover a ton of ground in CF. He made a couple of great catches when I saw him play.

Burns has 18K in 40AB. Doubt he makes it past AA, unfortunately.

Still way too early for him. He's only 17 or 18 I believe. He might be the youngest on the team. With his speed and defense, he will be given ample time to develop (look at Jai Miller).

Ben Julianel has the stuff to be a MLB major league lefty vs. lefty specialist. My brother told me his stuff is as good as anyone in the Mudcats' pen.

I believe Beinfest saw something in him when trading for him and that's good enough for me.

Ben Julianel was at one time among the Yankees' best prospects. He has 451 K's in 396 career minor league IP. He also has a career ERA of 3.14 in the minors. His stuff and being a lefty makes him a major leaguer someday.

in 2005, Ben Julianel was the Yankees #26 prospect... that's not saying a whole lot

He's only 19. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/..._id=fla&year=04

For the record. Fulton is not a shortstop. I don't think he has played there in two years. He converted from SS to third base when he joined the Hoppers. Even if the roster page says it on the Gboro web site, it is wrong. Septimo has played all the games at short and Fulton has had all his starts from 3B.

Septimo looks to be playing well...might be a nice Rule V pickup for us.

I was wondering about that too because Fulton has been a 3b man for a few years now and played 3rd this spring for the Marlins.

I don't think it matters though because he K's way to much and is lousy at defense. He will never make it.

-Andrew Jenkins was a big time slugger in college who needs to cut down on the K's. He changed positions in the offseason (from 1B to C). I have no clue how he is doing defensively however his offense will not be a problem.

He was? From what I recall of Jenkins numbers in college was that he hit for good average, but not a lot of power.

he slugged .555 his last year in Korvalis(6 homeruns, 2 triples 13 doubles)

2- Kris Harvey .410, 2 HR, 8 RBI (Ready for a promotion)

Forget the rest it is all about Kris Harvey! He shall end up a call up at the end of the year. This kid is our future LF
