April 30, 200620 yr Okay, this is a bad dream right? I won't rehash Friday's night's mistakes by Joe but guess what, he did it again! - Jacobs again starts and again leaves more men on base (4) than anyone else on the team. - Helms again does not bat against the Rox lefty closer, Fuentes. Again he faces Mesa who he is now 0-8 against. - Amezaga should have pinch hit in the 8th against the righty but instead was used as a PR in the 9th. Why not Reed? Because Reed was used as a pinch hitter earlier in the game. Joe knew that if Helms got out in the 8th, Jacobs would probably be batting in the 9th. How does he not plan for this? Why does he keep running out of players come the 9th inning? Yesterday's game ended with the bat in Reed's hands and tonight's game ended with the bat in Abercrombie's hands. Also, for those that wanna say...hey Jacobs got on base....true, but he is a # 5 hitter and walked on a close 3-2 pitch. His job at # 5 is to drive the runner in....ESPECIALLY knowing what's coming up behind him. Not for a minute will I try to act like I can out manage Girardi....but I do think I can say that so far his in-game management has been dreadful of late.
May 2, 200620 yr how low can you go? show me .179 do I hear/see .175? .160? .140!!!! :mischief2 ima go wit .165 then painc
May 2, 200620 yr Im done with Jake I want Stokes. Maybe he will have a Franceour type entrance. I hate to tell ya, but we think Jake K's alot, it'll be more for Stokes. And adding more k's to this lineup is what we don't need.

May 2, 200620 yr I just saw Stokes was pinch hit for in the 6th inning today. Could he be getting the call? :mischief2 Edit: Just saw he was hurt.
May 2, 200620 yr Heck I wouldn't mind the strikeouts so much from Stokes if he could at least get some hits... Jacobs average is in the toilet. Maybe he read all those headlines about the 11 homers in 100 at-bats last year & got a big head. Who knows, but he's killing the lineup batting #5. How many runners has he stranded lately? It's insane. Stokes is doing okay in the minors thus far, I wonder how long it might take for a change to be made if things stay like this...
May 2, 200620 yr After the first month of the season, I think Jacobs = Jeromy Burnitz. I had higher hopes for him, but, unless he starts to have better swings, that's about all he'll ever become (which at this point, I'd settle for over his current production).
May 2, 200620 yr It's still probably not enough ABs to demote Jacobs, unless they see something specifically in his swing that he'd be better served working out in AAA. We definitely arn't competing, so Jacobs can struggle up here for awhile longer before Stokes gets his shot....it very well may come soon though. Jacobs is having some serious issues with his swing right now.

May 6, 200620 yr First off, Jacobs is not going out there and being dominated with his usual swing. As prinny pointed out and Marlins2003 later confirmed, before the season when his swing is in order he can be very very good. Anyone who's been watching FSN for the last week and a half or so will tell you Presley has been working on Jacobs' swing for the last 2-3 weeks. It's really screwed up now, it's a train wreck. When Jake goes out there and gets dominated with his good swing I'll be cocerned.

May 11, 200620 yr A homer and a double that hit off the wall in the Bermuda Triangle tonight (the game is not even half over), plus the SOLID swings he had last night and during the weekend. Lets go Mike!
May 11, 200620 yr Author he has looked real good at the plate over the past few games this is a real good thing
May 11, 200620 yr good signs. I think he might've been one of the guys Girardi was alluding to when he said if some players don't start making adjustments, they might need to be sent down the minors to work things out. anyhow hope he keeps it up.
May 11, 200620 yr I also think girardi was referring to Jacobs. Let's not forget we have another great first baseman in the minors that goes by the name of Jason Stokes.
