April 25, 200620 yr We kept the Cubs in the game. If we would have gotten a run or two more things could have been different. Zambrano's an excellent pitcher. I'll take a 3-0 lead against him into the 8th any day. Still we had chances. It wasnt like no men were on base. Could have gotten a ground ball to get the runner over etc:.
April 25, 200620 yr God how I wish at times I can manage this team. Let Joe deal with the players and just let me do the in-game managing
April 25, 200620 yr Just spending chump change on a decent pen would have us sitting at .500 or above yep.
April 25, 200620 yr Vargas was outstanding, kept the ball low and our defense was superb. Hopefully he keeps giving us quality starts and if your pen can hold the leads we will be a pretty good team.
April 25, 200620 yr Fuxking Herges and fuxking Johnson,what the hexl yours don't know how to throw the daxn ball in the strike zone ! ! ! ! Read my name, DON ' T WALK HITTER OR YOU WILL DIE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! F U X K I N G :banghead :mad :thumbdown :banghead :mad :thumbdown :banghead :mad :thumbdown
April 25, 200620 yr Just spending chump change on a decent pen would have us sitting at .500 or above Just using the pen correctly would have at around .500
April 25, 200620 yr I wouldn't say Vargas pitched well. The stats were pretty (some of them), but how many hitters did he start out with a ball, and how many times did he go to a 3-ball count? Too many. on top of that, how many balls were hit to the warning track? I would say he was more lucky than dominating
April 25, 200620 yr Girardi's going have alot white hair when season is over And I'm gonna get an ulcer by the time the season is over. Watching this team makes me sick. Our bullpen is a piece of crap.
April 25, 200620 yr what ever happened to german the big benitez looking dood...and we sure seem to strike out alot as a whole team...can any one get the actual number of team strikeouts...we need Hermmida back ASAP...and any word on Carlos Martinez
April 25, 200620 yr what ever happened to german the big benitez looking dood...and we sure seem to strike out alot as a whole team...can any one get the actual number of team strikeouts...we need Hermmida back ASAP...and any word on Carlos Martinez He pitched 2 innings yesterday.
April 25, 200620 yr Just spending chump change on a decent pen would have us sitting at .500 or above Just using the pen correctly would have at around .500 who should he have put in?
April 25, 200620 yr what ever happened to german the big benitez looking dood...and we sure seem to strike out alot as a whole team...can any one get the actual number of team strikeouts...we need Hermmida back ASAP...and any word on Carlos Martinez Coming in to today's game, we struck out 7.9 times every nine inning. (Showed the stat on the ESPN broadcast).
April 25, 200620 yr Vargas was fantastic and the guys played 7 1/2 innings of fabulous baseball. Then they let it all unravel. It's a shame really as this win could have really done alot for their confidence. Now, obviously the opposite happened.
April 25, 200620 yr Girardi use of the bullpen is sicking. When Carlos Martinez was healthy(thanks Joe :thumbdown ) he would over work him. Johnson doesn't get enough work and when he does its to pitch 2-3 inning and come in with 2 people on and nobody on base? Ricky Nolasco another Girardi victim doesn't get enough work, and like Johnson when he does its to pitch 2-3 ining. Matt Herges- gets way to much work. He should be either the mop up man/released Joe Borowski- to early to tell but if it where up to me he wouldn't be the closer Franklyn German- is going to be Girardi next victim Todd Wellemeyer- has poor control, no future with this team, should be nothing more than the best mop up man on this team Randy Messenger- has only pitch one inning German has been great! WHERE IS HE WHEN WERE IN A SPOT??!?! He threw 2 innings yesterday unfortunately. Another one of Girardi's tendencies that are bugging me. Can't use a reliever the next day sometimes when he's gone 2 innings. Girardi has no clue
April 25, 200620 yr Just spending chump change on a decent pen would have us sitting at .500 or above Totally. It is sad that we're a CFer, a decent left-handed reliever, and...gulp...a real manager away from competing for .500. AND, I know I'm going to get blasted for the Girardi comment, but his faults are clear. He had NOBODY warming up when Josh Johnson couldn't throw a strike. He is ASTOUNDINGLY sticking with Matt Herges. Plus, he constantly feels the need to remove our best hitters for a "pinch runner," who should have been thrown out on his steal attempt of 2nd. I'm not going to blame Girardi for this loss, but I just don't think he's shown me anything this year, particularly considering that supposedly several teams were after him...with NO managerial experience of any kind (other than watching Torre). Ugh. This is going to be a frustating year. At least Vargas showed me something, and hopefully Carbrera can use this kind of game as a spring-board for the rest of the series. We're going to need him.
April 25, 200620 yr seeing Vargas do so well tonight in the little that I saw of the game made me feel really good. Yea are bullpen sucks, it's a work in progres, but seeing one of our young starters turn it around like that, that made me happy. I see more positives then negitives in games like these that we have been seeing. We have hung around with every team that we have faced, with a bunch of greenier then grass rookies, I think come September we will see less and less threads like the ones that are poping up now......... until then A LITTLE PAITENCE !!! the bullpen washouts will be dealt with eventually, and trust me, if the bullpen is this bad in september then I will be a little mad. but come on, if anyone thought Borowski or Herges is going to save the day, or one of our greener then grass rookies you are mistaken. .. It will come around though as they mature... Josh Johnson needs to work things out with the strike zone cause things between those two really dont seem to be working out at the moment.
April 25, 200620 yr The Marlins are without a doubt the best 5-12 team the big leagues has seen in quite some time.
April 25, 200620 yr i agree he uses herges way too much but he is really impressive just not today though. german has seem to be a good reliever, has the stuff to be a good set up man/closer.
