April 25, 200620 yr thats what happens when young pitchers walk people. they'll get better, give it time.
April 25, 200620 yr Too bad Herges started this crap. He's a death sentence when he comes in. Exactly. We were fortunate he got through the 7th. Johnson should have started the 8th.

April 25, 200620 yr It's amazing how you can feel good for almost an entire game, & it can all come crashing down so quickly. I'm in pain right now. I can't imagine how these kids are going to come back after losing game after game like this. Good luck with that Girardi...
April 25, 200620 yr I wouldn't give the offense a break, either. We struck out, what, 14 times? *cough* Aggy and Reggie. We had so many chances to get a run or two here and there.
April 25, 200620 yr all this will equal out in the end this is to be expected the mistakes will decrease
April 25, 200620 yr What are you expecting? I mean it sucks that it happend, but we are going to lose alot of games this year. Get used to it.
April 25, 200620 yr Too bad Herges started this crap. He's a death sentence when he comes in. I would like to say that after this, at least Girardi won't be as likely to keep giving the ball to him, but I fear he will.

April 25, 200620 yr The Good: Vargas bounces back from a terrible outing. The Bad: Girardi's affinity with Matt Herges is getting ridiculous. The guy is the biggest piece of sh*t in the major leagues. The Ugly: The damn bullpen does it again!

Although this meltdown is on the bullpen, this team can't expect to win close games with Chris Aguila in the starting line-up on a consistent basis. He is a September call up folks. You cant polish a turd.
April 25, 200620 yr I'm glad Vargas pitched well. Hopefully this is the game where he turns it around and reminds us all why we became such big fans of him last year. :notworthy And boy, I can't wait for Hermida to come back. Being forced to start one of Abercrombie/Reed/Aquila is bad enough. Being forced to start TWO of them is a nightmare.
April 25, 200620 yr :lol I agree. This bullpen is HORRIBLE. What word is worse than horrible? We need to come back out there tomorrow and score atleast 10 runs. Even then I will be nervous.
April 25, 200620 yr I wouldn't say Vargas pitched well. The stats were pretty (some of them), but how many hitters did he start out with a ball, and how many times did he go to a 3-ball count? Too many.
April 25, 200620 yr Im sick a people talking about how this is going to happen and things will equal out....BULLISH!!! They have the chance to be successful now and ITS JUST F***ING PATHETIC Im disgusted
April 25, 200620 yr Just one run after the 5th inning would have changed the course of the game IMO. It would have squashed any momentum the Cubs had. It would stop Cubs fans from cheering and giving their team support strikeout after strikeout by their pitchers and baserunner after baserunner by their offense.
April 25, 200620 yr I agree. Vargas did great. Hopefully he can keep it up all year. Oh and with the Hermida situation. Our lineup will get better when he comes back. We need to get Reed/Reggie and Chris out of there. Prove me wrong guys.

He ran into some trouble, but to that point he'd pitched his way out of it, & his pitch count was still low. Good to see though.
