April 25, 200620 yr Its going to not suck to be a Marlins fan. I've got faith. We're eventually going to right this ship.
April 25, 200620 yr I seriously don't know how anybody can blame that loss on anybody other than Girardi. The bullpen is not the problem Girardi is.
April 25, 200620 yr :lol I agree. This bullpen is HORRIBLE. What word is worse than horrible? Horrendous.
April 25, 200620 yr Yep. Everyone goes through this but I just wish it wasn't now. Once Hermi comes back I think things will get alittle better.
April 25, 200620 yr I wouldn't give the offense a break, either. We struck out, what, 14 times? *cough* Aggy and Reggie. We had so many chances to get a run or two here and there. Although this meltdown is on the bullpen, this team can't expect to win close games with Chris Aguila in the starting line-up on a consistent basis. He is a September call up folks. You cant polish a turd. and the difference between he & Abercrombie would be?
April 25, 200620 yr :lol I agree. This bullpen is HORRIBLE. What word is worse than horrible? Horrendous. Thank You. :thumbup
April 25, 200620 yr Girardi is really starting to pi$$ me off. How many times does Matt Herges have to screw up a game for him to realize he is trash and needs to be kicked off this team. Why did we sign German? So he could watch games? WTF We have other pitchers to use Herges does not need to be throwing 2 innings. I would rather bring some AA or AAA kids up and let them screw up games then watch these "reliable vets" that know what their doing. At least they would get some experience that way. Damn this is going to be one long season...
April 25, 200620 yr Its sickening watching all the different ways this team finds to lose games. My main question: WHY DID GIRARDI LEAVE MATT HERGES IN TO START THE EIGTH? The guys is a former closer who should be brought in for one inning to set things up for either the closer or, in this case another reliever to come in for the 8th. Theres nothing fundamental or logical in leaving Herges in to start the 8th with the middle of the Cubs order coming up. Another bad loss for the Marlins. I know there's going to be more of these to come but it's going to take some getting used to.
April 25, 200620 yr We kept the Cubs in the game. If we would have gotten a run or two more things could have been different.
April 25, 200620 yr Just spending chump change on a decent pen would have us sitting at .500 or above
April 25, 200620 yr German has been great! WHERE IS HE WHEN WERE IN A SPOT??!?! He threw 2 innings yesterday unfortunately. Another one of Girardi's tendencies that are bugging me. Can't use a reliever the next day sometimes when he's gone 2 innings.
April 25, 200620 yr Author at least u guys finally agree that german should be the closer...... my god this is making me f***ing sick to my stomach and i get pissed off as hell everytime we lose and i take it to heart but this i just knew was coming and i called that jones homer out loud the second before the pitch it just happens everytime
April 25, 200620 yr We kept the Cubs in the game. If we would have gotten a run or two more things could have been different. Zambrano's an excellent pitcher. I'll take a 3-0 lead against him into the 8th any day.
April 25, 200620 yr once we left two men on scoring position and HErges proceeded to give up a lead off double and a walk, you could feel in your bones that we were in for a rude awakening
April 25, 200620 yr SP, Defense.... Good start to win some game in the years to come... The bullpen will be fixed as the years go on
April 25, 200620 yr The Good: Vargas bounces back from a terrible outing. The Bad: Girardi's affinity with Matt Herges is getting ridiculous. The guy is the biggest piece of sh*t in the major leagues. The Ugly: The damn bullpen does it again! I didn't have a problem with Herges starting the 8th. he pitched fine the previous inning.
April 25, 200620 yr Herges got us out of the seventh inning. I'm never a fan of having a reliever go out for a second inning. Johnson's a good pitcher. He was in a tough spot though.
April 25, 200620 yr We kept the Cubs in the game. If we would have gotten a run or two more things could have been different. :thumbup
April 25, 200620 yr He certainly looked a lot more confident on the mound tonight. He had good control of the fastball and didn't throw as many breaking balls are he's been throwing in previous starts.
April 25, 200620 yr Easy to second guess Joe for some dumb moves. McKeon made bonehead moves all the time, but more likely then not they paid off. Ol' mans luck I suppose. April 25, 200620 yr our pen is full of youngsters who dont have the mental approach yet. once they walk one batter there mental game breaks down and thats when the hits and the mistakes up in the zone come.
