June 5, 200620 yr Mitre: Since our starting rotation seems to be set do you think when Mitre comes off the DL we will use him as an extended relief guy or should we trade him? There is no use to have him if we don't need him. When might he come off the DL? Someother team might be happy to have him. Herges: ... What is his role on this team? Is he being used as an extended relief guy? Is there a chance we might release him and bring up another young arm who might be ready? There is no point for him just sitting there. Who might be ready to take his place if he gets released? Petit: Do you think we should send him down and let him start again? If he is not meant to be a starter then we should send him down and let him practice being a reliever. He has been getting zippo work in lately. Thanks .

Thanks . according to Joe Frisario, Herges is going to be used as a guy to just kinda eat up innings. like if we're getting blown out we'll throw him in for 2 innings... that's about it.
June 5, 200620 yr Mitre hasnt been all that bad and you can't just think that since the rotation is doing ok then we forget the rest, Its a long season and injuries and bad streaks happen I will keep Mitre around, give him a few starts in AAA and see how things pan out ... I just wouldnt give up on him just yet I would think that sending Petit down would make sense at this point, especially with Mitre coming back
June 5, 200620 yr Petit should be sent down IMO. Prob also wouldnt hurt to dangle him as trade bait. Herges should stay in the mop up role. Mitre should be DFA or traded for whatever you can get. More faith in Herges(much much much more) than I have in Mitre. Herges can do mop up work without letting the opposing team back into the game, something Mitre cannot. We could just give Mitre back to the Cubs, they were so happy when he left and it would just break their little hearts to get that giant turd back.
June 5, 200620 yr yeah, Mitre is still young... people usually talk about him like he's some washed-up vet.
June 5, 200620 yr i don't think many teams, if any, will be interested in mitre. especially after having a slow start to the season and just coming off the DL. Herges is the official mop-up reliever. he needs to be released, i have no idea what's taking so long. pinto's the most likely to get called up....ungs is a possibility. note: bump (haven't heard about him in a while), vargas, & resop are doing poorly. petit i think will stay because we frankly don't have a RP who has a hot hand right now in the minors..ungs could be called up in place of him.....is ungs a starter or reliever?
June 5, 200620 yr Theres no difference in being a washed up vet and a guy in his mid 20s with no talent whatsoever. A washed up vet(Herges) is still much more talented than Mitre. Like I said, give the Cubs Mitre back. Their fans partied when he was traded, it made the trade even in their(and my) eyes. They would have a bad day if they got him back. Then the trade would forever be squarely in out favor.
June 5, 200620 yr The reason Petit has not been used much recently is simply because he is a long relief guy and we have been winning meaning starters have been going deep. Come the deadline if we were to jettison Mitre, we could pick up a B prospect for him, if he keeps his ERA under 5, we all know teams go crazy around the deadline.
June 5, 200620 yr clearly any of you guys that think that mitre is "WASHED UP" and "WORTH NOTHING" know absolutely nothing about baseball then. yeah i know, he doesnt throw 95 with a great sinker changeup and curveball and didnt go 7 innings and only give up 1 run against the rockies and lost. mitre is loaded with talent but ur just too stupid to see it.
June 5, 200620 yr He's not loaded with talent. He's a pitcher with no talent that somehow made it out of A-ball when he never should of. He wont get anything in a trade and he will never help this team win. I have watched him pretty much his entire career. He doesnt have the ability to pitch in MLB baseball.

It seems like this is all you talk about. We understand that you dont like Sergio Mitre.
June 5, 200620 yr bro just stay in patoka, illionois and worry about the team there. ohh wait u dont have one so dont go around dissing our players. ohh yeah and he didnt pitch a complete game shut out against the marlins last year

Did Mitre kill your family or something? Give a 25 year old pitcher with a 90+ fastball with a nasty sinker and a developing curveball, who blanked a Marlins team who had Carlos Delgado, Miguel Cabrera, Paul Lo Duca, Juan Pierre, and Luis Castillo on it for one hit in Wrigley Field, a chance...
June 5, 200620 yr my bad bro im not trying to insult u im just saying that u cant judge mitre until u see him start for a whole year and see what he can do and so far he hasnt had that chance.

I have to agree with him 100 % ^ Mitre has really only had like 2 rought starts this whole year thats way less to say then what Moehler was going through. He got hurt and is on the 60 Day DL there is no poit in rushing him, but when he does come back I would like to see him start again or if not later on benefit us in the bullpen. He CAN pitch and thats why he got him as part of a trade. Herges just needs to eat inning like said before, seems to me like his future with the club looks bleek if anything. A move to trade him away or release him might no be so far away. Petit, needs to be probably be sent down if were not going to use him as much. I would like to see him start, and if he is going to get the starts in Minor League then thats good stuff for him. i want to see him develop well because he is part of the Marlins future.
June 5, 200620 yr my bad bro im not trying to insult u im just saying that u cant judge mitre until u see him start for a whole year and see what he can do and so far he hasnt had that chance. Your team is my team. I have been a Marlin fan since 93. I have also seen Mitre pitch more than anyone here. I have seen the fact that he does not have the ability to pitch at the MLB level. He was a bad throw in. The Cubs fans at my buddys graduation party actually thanked me for my team taking him off of the Cubs, saying that no matter how bad Pierre has been it doesnt matter since Mitre can no longer suck so bad for them. He has no business being on a rebuilding team, espicially with the pitching talent we have. We have kids better(Bostick, Ungs) sitting on their ass while he sucks at the big league level. He wont be here after this year likely, and if he is definantly not after next year. If he's gone at the deadline well it's an improvement because you give innings you were going to give him to someone who can actually pitch.
June 5, 200620 yr IMO the Marlins will have a better rotation with Mitre rather than Moehler. If this team is truly building for the future that would be the step I would take. Of course I would bring Mitre back slowly especially if Moehler is still pitching good enough to keep the team in the ball game. As for Herges hopefully his role will be to just eat innings, again a team that is building for the long run could probably use someone younger. Petit isn't being used enough, I know the starters are pitching well, but he's only pitched in 6 games in 3 weeks he could be used more often in the minors.
June 5, 200620 yr willis Johnson Olsen Nolasco Petit Bullpen Moehler Mitre Tank Messenger Kensing Borowski K-mart Moehler/Mitre for long relif and emergency starts Tank as our lefty Messenger/Kensing 7th inning guys Kensing/Borowski 8th inning guys K-mart Closer Eventually I would like to see this as our pitching staff towords the end of the year, maybe july/august sometime... Petit should be doing a little more work to
June 5, 200620 yr Hermida_Rules27 I really cant understand how you can hate on Mitre so much. It seems like every time his name is brought up you have to put him down. Did he refuse to give you his autograph once or something? In all of his starts he himself only lost 2 games. Every other game could have easily been a win if he had run support or the bullpen didnt blow it for him. And you'd rather have Herges then Mitre? Are you serious??? That makes me laugh.
June 5, 200620 yr Because I've seen him pitch since the start of his career, and he is by far the worst pitcher I have ever seen.
June 5, 200620 yr You've seen every start he's ever made???? Every pitch he's ever thrown????? Your hatred for the man is irrational at best.... /Nate Bump haters of America
June 6, 200620 yr We should give Mitre another chance. He wasn't the only pitcher blowing up games before he was sent to the DL. All of our pitcher got another chance and they all came through while Mitre couldn't because he was in the DL. I say give him a chance in the starting rotation and see how he'll respond. His last few games may had been effected by his injure arm and that why he slow down and didn't wanted to talk about his injury. You never know but I sure do believe Mitre could make a comeback.
June 6, 200620 yr Because I've seen him pitch since the start of his career, and he is by far the worst pitcher I have ever seen. Mitre has some nasty stuff, i dont know who the f*** you were watching.
June 6, 200620 yr A comeback? He's never been good enough to make a "comeback". Look at the way the team has pitched since others have taken his innings. He has no case for the starting rotation. If the bullpen continues to improve, he has no claim to that either.
