:o

Key for Marlins: Don't Strike Out

Meeting Strategy: Tell them forget the pass, they are now currently playing over .500 for the last 12 games while the Braves are the new disaster team. It is time to get revenge on their bullpen like what they did to us. Cmon guys you can do this.

Joe Strategy in the game: Bring in the Tank, shut them down in the last 3 innings.

Just make the team watch replays of the earlier Braves games this season. Keep them disciplined, and make them hungry for it.

That how it was with McKeon.

I don't mean when you have fun you ALWAYS win every game.

the key of course will be to get to the braves bullpen.

aside from that you just simply have to get ahead in the count against the braves, avoid letting the joneses beat you also.

we can beat the braves, we just have to continue playing the kind of focused, determined baseball we have been playing recently.

Hit the ball off the pitchers head. Just kidding, approach this like any other series just try to win the series, so even if you get blown out in one remember there are still two more to play.

Obvoiusly we are not competing this year for the playoff so might as well not kill yourself this season.

Key for Marlins: Don't Strike Out

Actually as much as I've whined about the strikeouts lately, we're still winning more than we're losing while we've had all these high-K games.

Truth is, if guys are striking out but they're making the starting pitcher throw 6 or 7 pitches in the at-bat, it's not that bad. Strikeouts tend to rack up high pitch counts. So if you can make their starter throw a ton of pitches, the strikeouts at least help you get to the bullpen.

The first key to the series against the Braves will be dodging the weather system that is hovering over the ENTIRE state.

Other than what others have already touched on, I think showing some patience against Smoltz will do the team some good.

If he makes perfect pitches and starts mowin down guys then there isnt much the youngsters can do but the Marlins can't afford to swing at bad pitches and help Smoltz out.

I'll be down there on Tuesday (scored some sweet Batter Box seats) for JJ/Smoltz weather permitting.

what's everyone's guesses for smoltz K's?

i'd say 11k over 7in

if only we can have the luck against smoltz like on opening day a few years back... :)

Troll Prediction: Marlins are going to murder the Braves!

The Braves has gone lazy this year while the Marlins still remember fresh their last encounter against the Braves. They remember all the problems and fights they had to deal with after that series. I think Scott Olsen will put all of his fustration together and win this because this is personal for him. It also personal for Kensing, Messenger, and everyone in the bullpen.

Force the Braves to use their bullpen early, and it's all over.

Do not give the Joneses anything to hit.

Girardi needs to show as much confidence in his young starters as possible, even if they get a little roughed up at times. They need the experience.
