What can I say about my former Babii Marlin?

He is just flat out incredible out there. He has a combination of a Beckett bulldog attitude yet, doesn't have the temper. It is just awesome to see.

We can all really point to the turnaround occuring with JJ being inserted in the rotation.

JJ has elevated this rotation to a whole new level. He has become our undisputed Ace. D-Train is pitching better and not by coincidence...JJ has lifted a huge weight over Dontrelle shoulders. BTW some teams are already seeing JJ a second time around and it has been advantage JJ

Quality start after quality start. I said it before and I'll say it again, he is doing what Mr. $55 million has yet to do (AJ) and yet to learn. Turning your ability into results is about what is above your neck-and JJ has learned some lessons earlier than many. I know, can he do it the rest of the year and then continue in the future-who knows? who cares? now is all we have to judge by and now is great. Looks a lot more than a #3 type starter as many were stating a few weeks ago.

In another thread the debate is about how quickly a draftee/prospect will work his way through the system and to the major leagues.

What separates Johnson from his peers, and why he's doing the job he's doing, at least in part, and I believe a significant part, is that in 2004 he threw almost 115 and then in 2005 he threw over 150 innings. That work, and learning how to adjust to a major league workload and schedule is what prepared him for the success we're seeing now.

Of course "stuff" has alot to do with it but stamina does as well.

Its official Johnson has the best ERA in baseball

I hope he keeps it up!! :thumbup

The bad news is that Josh will immediately drop off the ERA list today through no fault of his own.

You need 1 IP for each team game played, and he has 61.1 to the Marlins 61 games played. Therefore he'll need to go at least 5 innings next week to qualify again, and really needs to pitch more like 7 or 8 innings a game to avoid getting knocked off .

Here's hoping he will !

big important stat there. having said that, you can expect to see him give you at least a good 175 innings this year theoretically in a natural progression of being able to condition your arm for the innings pitched.

I wouldnt be shocked to see him surpass 200 ip next year and stay at that level for a decade barring injury.

We need to get that done more with our young starters.

Lets not forget that he is 6'7", and built like a tank, he has the body to take a heavy workload. Other than Scotty, all the members of our rotation are built to eat innings, this can only be a good sign for the dog days, :D

Just wanted to add here that his string of being matched up against top pitchers will be continuing, as he's currently scheduled to take on Roy Halladay and then Randy Johnson.

:o :thumbup

This should be a good test for him. :thumbup
