RHP Brian Moehler

Contract status: Signed through 2006

A likely candidate to be moved. The veteran is making $1.50 million. He's pitched much better for more than a month, but currently is on the disabled list with a sore right big toe. That has bothered him for more than a month, but he has pitched effectively through pain. Expected to be healthy before July 31, Moehler could be a prime candidate to go to a serious contender looking for another starter who also can pitch out of the bullpen. With so many young arms in the Marlins' system, moving Moehler would create a rotation spot.

What do you think we can get for him?

the yankees would love to have him with all their SP problems

Just proves how the mighty Yankees have fallen , i am not trying to run Moehler down but as his career shows he is nothing more than an average pitcher , if any contender is counting on Moehler to solve their pitching woes they are in trouble . Besides the Yanks just picked up Ponson off the scrap heap no need for the Moleman

the yankees like their DFA's and they've gotten tablescraps from the marlins before (see: Small, Aaron)

No team is going to bring in a fifth starter to "solve their pitching woes." It's just that another starter who has at least seen a strech run can't hurt if a team has seen a lot of injuries. Look at the guys getting picked up who have been doing much worse recently than Moehler.

Somone such as the Red Sox are desperate for a number 5 type guy, who have terrible rotation problems at the moment, Wakefield on the DL now, and a lot of faith goinng into Wells coming back healthy. If not, they will likely be on the lookout for someone to just keep them in a ballgame, and eat some innings, Moe is pretty good at the first one.
