Does Dan Uggla have a chance for a gold glove?

Featured Replies

Though his fielding percentage isn't great, he has made his fair share of flashy plays and has been consistent and his competition is Utley? Who else?

Orlando Hudson is the reigning winner...

Although O-dog has been awesome in the field, Uggla's offense should be more than enough to swing the gold glove his way (sarcasm).

Ah, forgot about Hudson, my bad. Could Uggla be a future gold glove winner under the tutelage of Perry Hill though?

If Uggla wins a gold glove it will truely be a miracle (read the rest before you say anything)

He came into this orginization as a guy with a pretty good bat, but who always had troubles fielding, Perry Hill is a miracle worker, If you told Arizona he would develope like this with the glove he would be a Diamondback still

not this year, putting more time in with Perry Hill in the offseason and Spring Training will make him even better next year.

Still very good from what ppl expected him to do at the start of the year.

i love uggla but he doesnt deserve to win a gold glove this year , additionally this award more than others is built on reputation uggla is a rookie who has done well but he has built up his credibility yet defensively(not at the gold glove level)

If the Fish make the playoffs, all these rookies receive instant credibility. Unfortunately if they don't make hte playoffs, I think it'll take longer.

The GG is the most overrated award in the world. Rafael Palmeiro won the award playing 40 freaking games at 1B and over 100 as a DH.

Yeah...

Based on my gut, I think Utley takes it, but Uggla certainly deserves some credit, especially in a Castillo-less NL.

That's bizarre. I thought Luis won it last year?

Yeah, he did. Hudson won it in the AL.

So then he's not reigning gold glover, obviously.

Not in the traditional sense, but since the winners traded leagues, I think you could say it...

I agree. In fact i can't remember a rookie ever winning a GG...It may have happen but I hae no recollection of it...Uggla has gotten better but he is not yet a GG 2nd baseman. I agree Hudson is a possibility but Everett or Biggio are more likely due to their body of work is much more extensive

no he couldnt hold hudson's jock strap in the field honestly right now. He is good but he isnt great.

Still offensively the trade off is hugely in uggla favor and that is good to see.

the only rookie that should/will win a GG is Zimmerman.

Scott Rolen will get another GG...Aramis will be 2nd in the voting

Yeah, he did. Hudson won it in the AL.

The votes are tallied from NL managers though. Perhaps they'll pick a veteran of the NL they've seen or aware of the reputation of, like Utley or Giles or Durham.

The award belongs to Jamey Carroll IMO. He's been awesome this year. Some of the plays he made against the Nats this weekend were incredible.

Being that the managers pick it, Id say its definitely a possibility
