He?d be so comfortable here where he has friends, real ones ? the kind he had before he was ARod. The kind he doesn?t have to doubt. What a splash he would make. What a lineup we would have. If any single player can cause a real Marlins buzz in this town he would be the one. Oh well, speculation, wondering and dreaming are what the off-season is all about. The guy had the build and speed but half of the time I expected the ball to bounce off of his head when he was runnning down flyballs at the track. And he WAS an outfielder in the minors, not a player trying to make the transition from shortstop to centerfield. That is not to say Hanley couldn't make the transition to CF and possibly be above average, but I wouldn't be so sure the transition would be successful.

If you ask me, Willingham did absolutely fine in the OF, Amezega did pretty well considering he went from middle infield to outfield pretty randomly, and Jeremy Hermida is a much better fielder than the guy we all saw last season.

It was only an issue because of the offensive statistics the position was producing. It had NOTHING to do with defense. Playing outfield is as simple as catching a ball, and throwing it back. Anybody can learn to take better and quicker routes to the ball. If Miguel Cabrera can play the outfield, I'll be damned if Hanley Ramirez can't. I caught a game about a year ago and around the third inning I got a hip flexor and didn't say anything until the next inning. Needless to say, there were about three passed balls that inning that I would have been able to get to if healthy. You could probably tough it out in the outfield, but behind the plate it eliminates any and all movement.
