October 7, 200619 yr If the Marlins sign A-Rod I will jump on the field and hump Billy The Marlin on Opening Day.
October 7, 200619 yr I would have no objection to Hanley in center, but how would his arm be out there? Hanley has a very good arm.
October 7, 200619 yr I know what Loria has said about the payroll remaining arounf the same, but I'm also sure he didn't anticipate A-Rod being an option. And with the heat he's getting from MLB to spend what he receives, if the Yanks cover $3-4 Million a year on his contract, it could work. It is a pipedream, but not impossible.
October 7, 200619 yr I would have no objection to Hanley in center, but how would his arm be out there? Hanley has a very good arm. He has the speed obviously and quickness but wonder how his route running would be.
October 7, 200619 yr My over-under on trade rumors between now and March involving Dontrelle going to New York or Boston has now been raised to 25. Gammons alone number is 8, all to the Sox.
October 7, 200619 yr This is wishful thinking right now but if you say no to A-Rod, you don't know baseball.
October 7, 200619 yr This is wishful thinking right now but if you say no to A-Rod, you don't know baseball. And that's just because of his on-field presence. A-Rod is already a legend of the Miami area... Remember the Shaq and Culpepper trades? Multiply that press by two, IMO.

October 7, 200619 yr he wouldnt be as big down here as Shaq, nobody in all of sports except Ali is as big as Shaq. But he would be a huge pick up. Bonds might be bigger, if that happend.
October 7, 200619 yr I don't understand how any fan of the Marlins could say no to this deal if the Yanks ate the salary. Keep in mind - they want him OUT so they aren't going to be asking for a ton back in return. A-Rod outside of the Bronx = perennial MVP candidate. With all of that said - I'd put the chances of this happening close to zero.

October 7, 200619 yr You guys really think he would waive his no trade clause to go to Florida and the NL?
October 7, 200619 yr I see only one scenerio this would occur...A stadium agreement is reached by the time the winter meeting have begun. It would make perfect sense for Alex to come home to Miami. He would be the Alex Rodriguez of the Texas Rangers days. Alex is such a great guy what the New York media has done to him is beyond comprehension and not in the least deserved in any way. Alex needs a change of scenario to put his career back in hyperdrive. Not that there is anything wrong with it now but Alex is a star of stars. It would never happen while a cloud of uncertainty remains on the stadium matter. Loria will increase payroll but nowhere to the extent required to add AROD, no matter how much of his salary the Yankees would pickup. Ultimately I would love to see it happen. Alex should be playing daily in front of family and friends...Alex should be playing in Miami! You guys really think he would waive his no trade clause to go to Florida and the NL? R U for real? Alex is from Kendall...I know his brother, he would love nothing more than to come home
October 7, 200619 yr You guys really think he would waive his no trade clause to go to Florida and the NL? we were on the list of teams he would go to when he was to be traded from texas. boston, chicago, NYM, florida, I think one or two others perhaps. But, florida is one of them yes. I dont see loria honestly taking that money though unless he gets a bargain

October 7, 200619 yr You guys really think he would waive his no trade clause to go to Florida and the NL? A-Rod loves Miami and Miami loves A-Rod. I guarantee he'd waive his no trade clause if given the chance, considering the nonsense he's going through in NY.
October 8, 200619 yr This is wishful thinking right now but if you say no to A-Rod, you don't know baseball. I guess I don't know baseball.
October 8, 200619 yr Sorry to burst anyone's bubble: No way in he!l the Marlins trade for Arod. The team has already made it clear they won't bump payroll much. We already know they have to bump it up for Cabs and D-Train. Even if Willis were part of the deal, the Yanks would want more in return. Teams like LA, Houston, Cubs, Phils, etc. could give up more players/propects.

They need pitching bad, and someone young with his likability would be great for the Yankees

Arod is 16 million a year yankees cover 5-6 million a year in trade Willis about 8 million next year 2 million difference. It isnt as big as you think
October 8, 200619 yr i wouldnt do this simply because putting a guy like dontrelle on the yankees will put them over the top. he is EXACTLY what they need, a young LEFT handed pitcher. Randy is not what he used to be, dontrelle would win them a championship... garaunteed. i wouldnt trade him because of what the yankees would be getting, not because of what we'd be getting. and lets not forget all the intangibles, if it ever makes a difference, its with a guy like dontrelle... he's captain material.
October 8, 200619 yr No thanks. Hanley's upside at short outweighs anything Rodriguez and his me first attitude can bring. :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol A Rod had a down year, and was still far better than Hanley. I assume your joking.

I assume your joking. well he used the term upside, and if you look at what Hanley did as a 22 year old, you can see he obviously isnt joking that being said, Id love to have ARod at SS with Hanley in CF
