October 7, 200619 yr they were talking about the yankees and what will happen if they lose and what would happen w/ A-rod. He said that he might be gone and he listed possible teams that have showed interest, angels, cubs, dodgers, and he also mentionedi yankees pay some of the contract a-rod to the marlins in a deal involving Willis :mischief2 a-rod SS and hanley CF that would solve that problem a-rod and miggy batting back to back and that would bring people to the ball park
October 7, 200619 yr I caught the tail end of him in the pregame before the Yanks-Tigers, didn't anyone hear the entire thing? It sounded to me like he was suggesting a package that A-Rod can come back to Miami in a package for D-Train? Of course this is 99.999% not going to happen, but where would they play him? SS and move Hanley to Center? 3B and move Miggy to 1B or the OF?
October 7, 200619 yr If they can get the Yanks to pay for the majority of A-Rod's deal, i'd make a trade in a second.
October 7, 200619 yr I don't think it's impossible if the Yankees are eating salary. They definitely need young pitching.
October 7, 200619 yr that would be so sweet....he would have no pressure down here and turn back into the great player that he is... but unfortunately, for him to save some respect he has to win a ring in ny 1st..
October 7, 200619 yr Rodriguez would provide all the protection Miguel needs, but I don't see where he would fit on our team. Trading the players we would need to trade to get this deal done, also, would probably weaken the team overall. I doubt Beinfest will seriously consider this, but I am sure we will now here scores of rumors during the offseason after the eastern sportswriters pick up on Rosenthal's comment. Scribbling Dontrelle trade rumors seem to be one of their favorite pastimes.
October 7, 200619 yr No thanks. Hanley's upside at short outweighs anything Rodriguez and his me first attitude can bring. If ARod could play left, or center, than fine, but I'm not about to move someone of the talent of Hanley for him. Am I saying that Hanley's better than ARod? No, but I am saying that I don't think ARod's going to be worth the inconvenience he'd bring, to say nothing of the price we'd pay.
October 7, 200619 yr No. This team doesn't need that Championship repellent. Even if I buy into him being that good, he simply doesn't belong here. The highest payed player in baseball on the poorest team in the league. If he's not going to be a leader (which to my knowledge he never has been) then I can't imagine him getting along well.
October 7, 200619 yr No were to put him.... Cant move Miggy back to LF, no way in hell am I moving HanRam anywhere... Ill pass
October 7, 200619 yr If we can afford it, anyone who says no to this is an idiot. If you have the opportunity to get A-Rod, you MAKE it work.
October 7, 200619 yr No were to put him.... Cant move Miggy back to LF, no way in hell am I moving HanRam anywhere... Ill pass What if Miggy didn't mind moving back to LF? What if he was more interested in what ARod could for the lineup? Not saying this would be the case by any means - just wondering and speculating since this is all totally hypothetical anyway.

I can guarantee you that Miguel would have no problem moving to left for A-Rod...

October 7, 200619 yr crap, I would put miggy in LF, or 1B if need be. Move Jacobs off in a trade for a CF. Either way if that offer was made Willis + prospect for Arod + money. I would ask where I could sign off on it Arod + Miggy would be the best 3-4 in the league or top 5 at least
October 7, 200619 yr No were to put him.... Cant move Miggy back to LF, no way in hell am I moving HanRam anywhere... Ill pass :thumbdown Hanley,Uggla,Cabrera,A-rod,Willy can you say PLAYOFF's :notworthy The Marlins signing the most expensive player in baseball. lol That would be funny IF WE WAS PAYING his WHOLE CONTRACT
October 7, 200619 yr The Yankees are paying $17M a year on his contract, if they can pick up $3-4M a year, I would do this as fast as humanly possible. Put Cabs at first and ARod at third. What a line up that would be. ARod would flourish in a city where everyone will see him as almost a "god."

Although, you do end up wasting a cannon of an arm.
October 7, 200619 yr Please :pray make this trade. He would be so amazing on the Marlins, because he would no pressure.
October 7, 200619 yr Yes...absolutely do it, and put A-Rod back at short. He was maybe the best defensive SS in the league when he actually played there.
October 7, 200619 yr Miguel wouldnt and shouldnt move again and ARod is a real good SS move Hanley to CF.
October 7, 200619 yr I would have no objection to Hanley in center, but how would his arm be out there?
October 7, 200619 yr Samson has said that there will be little change in the payroll next season. Trading for A-Rod would totally blow that argument apart. For the Marlins payroll to remain near this season's payroll after trading Dontrelle for ARod, the Yankees would have to agree to pay $30 million of his remaining contract plus the $5 million (with 2 percent interest) in deferred payments they still owe him. Then you would of course have the situation where one player is paid more than the rest of the team combined, etc. This is just a pipe dream and probably unfeasible in many different ways.
