April 21, 200719 yr Cabrera should be back in the lineup for this game unless something has changed between yesterday's news and today.
April 23, 200719 yr Author *UPDATES* RICKY NOLASCO (elbow) MAY 1ST Nolasco is scheduled for 2 rehab starts for Jupiter....Right now his target date of return is May 1st JORGE JULIO (calf :lol ) May 4th Scheduled to pitch in a Gulf Coast League game (rookie ball) Thursday...then, on April 29th he's set to get some rehab work in at Jupiter. This guy has a crap load of work to do on himself to get to where we need him to be. His stuff is good...his noggin is in the toilet. ANIBAL SANCHEZ (hamstring) shouldnt miss his turn Says the cramping experienced was only due to dehydration. JEREMY HERMIDA (knee) N/A He's been hitting of a tee and doing some light running. JOSH JOHNSON (ulnar nerve) hopefully back mid-June Had been tossing from 75 feet since April 8th and is feeling good. He continues to throw off flat ground. SERGIO MITRE (blister) 15-day DL retroactive to the 18th It was thought he'd make his next start after the callus tear, but, yet another Marlin pitcher hits the DL. Wes Obermueller made an emergency start and pitched an excellent game. He'll get at least one more start. ALEJANDRO DE AZA (ankle) 15-day DL since April 18th No news. LOGAN KENSING (tommy john) July at best He's been tossing on flat ground from 40 feet for a few weeks now. CARLOS MARTINEZ (tommy john) return hoped around All-Star Break Started throwing off a mound 2 weeks ago. Both he and Kensing could require extensive minor league rehab assignments on top of dealing with a now crowded Florida bullpen. It's great to finally have all these young, live arms available for the pen. MIKE JACOBS (thumb) hopes to return Tuesday Will not play today
April 23, 200719 yr Great report Sham Thanks...I am concerned about the lack of news on De Aza but I guess they want to minimize the pressure on the kid...K-Mart throwing off the mound for the past 2 weeks is huge! He should be ready to pitch live very soon. JJ should be throwing off the mound very soon for sure :thumbup
April 23, 200719 yr I'd that the the lack of news on De Aza is worrisome, but that just may have to do with our crop of local reporters than anything else. I doubt Fredi would be reluctant to talk about his status, rather no one asked him.

I doubt Fredi would be reluctant to talk about his status, rather no one asked him. You are so right. The local baseball writers are the worst although I like Berardino. The other day on his blog Juan Rodriguez wondered about why Fredi didn't use Cabrera instead of Treanor in the extra inning game but he (Rodriguez) said the subject never came up in the post-game interview. Why didn't he ask??
April 23, 200719 yr Nolasco back soon, and hopefully JJ's on the way. Gotta get these guys back soon. After Saturday's game, the Marlins' bullpen emerged as the most used relief corps in the National League, logging 74 2/3 innings.
April 23, 200719 yr Author It's still early, but it appears Boone isnt the big waste of money that some people thought...consequently Helms is hitting like a utility infielder for the Phils.
April 23, 200719 yr Ricky Nolasco, SP FLA News: RHP Ricky Nolasco (right elbow inflammation) is scheduled to pitch for Class A Jupiter on Monday and Thursday in a rehab assignment. If all goes well, he could rejoin the Marlins on May 1.
April 23, 200719 yr Hope Kensing and Martinez arent rushed back, no need for them to be. Take it easy in Carolina or Albaquerque, maybe come up after rosters expand, do some winter ball in Hawaii or Arizona, and be ready for ST next year. No reason to ruin to very promising BP arms by rushing them unnecessarily. If Obermueller has another good start Mitre is quite possibly out of a job.

Huge if, and even so, Mitre would be kept over Obermueller. I dont really understand why. Obermueller has already matched Mitre's win total as a Marlin, and Mitre's stats as a Marlins starter are dreadful(10 GS, 1-8, 5.93 ERA 1.73 WHIP). Dont understand why if Obermueller has another successful start, why wouldnt he replace Mitre who has had no success here whatsoever as a starter and will be out of a job no matter what anyway when JJ and Nolasco are both back? I know Obermueller isnt very good himself, but if he can have another good performance, that would tell me he gives us the better chance to win over Mitre until JJ and Nolasco are back.
April 23, 200719 yr Spike, let me say this fom the bottom of heart and without any malice towards you whatsoever. If you would drop your obsession with Mitre (because by now everyone in the known universe knows you don't like the guy and you're entitled to your opinion but enough already) you'd be taken more seriously and perhaps people would start listening to what you have to say on other subjects rather than just ignoring everything you sayor look for ways to get in arguments with you. The choice is yours. JMO.
April 23, 200719 yr I get what your saying 2003, but this time its not really about Mitre as much as it is about giving us a better chance to win until JJ and Nolasco are ready to reenter the rotation. I know my views on 3 certain players are well known and I have taken it upon myself to not mention them unless it is warranted(as in this case). But as stated I do get what your saying and I am going to stay out of these arguments as much as possible.
April 24, 200719 yr Nolasco started for Jupiter today and threw two innings, gave up one run on three hits, 1 BB 0 K. First inning was ugly, seemed to settle in in the 2nd. He will get a longer stretch on Thursday for Jupiter. He said he's pain free and fully expects to be back May 1st.
April 24, 200719 yr rumor has it that Jorge Julio gave up a run in rehab today, while stretching his calf
April 24, 200719 yr Nono your wrong. He gave up a run while warming up in the bullpen. Anyway Mitre has shown good stuff this year in a couple starts. In his first he only threw two bad pitches but what really hurt was the defense behind him playing poorly that game before he made those two pitches. His stuff was nasty before he had to exit vs Houston also. So I'm excited to get him back and see what he can do. In fact I'm less excited about Nolasco who in my opinion has only shown mediocre stuff so far in his career. Oh and I'm glad JJ is doing well and on schedule (if not ahead of)

It's great to finally have all these young, live arms available for the pen. MIKE JACOBS (thumb) hopes to return Wednesday (UPDATED) "He is moving the thumb and taking some swings in the cage," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "A couple of days ago, it looked like a fat toad." Jacobs could return to the lineup on Wednesday. (c/o rotoworld) JOSE GARCIA (elbow inflammation) N/A Last report was that he was going to start doing some light throwing a month ago...havnt heard anything since. He was placed on the 15-day DL on 3/31.
April 24, 200719 yr Any news about Jose Garcia?? Lastest news that I heard was listed on 15 days DL in end of spring trainning (caused elbow inflammation) Where is he?

JORGE JULIO (calf ) Eligible to return on Thursday Scheduled to pitch in a Gulf Coast League game (rookie ball) Thursday...then, on April 29th he's set to get some rehab work in at Jupiter. This guy has a crap load of work to do on himself to get to where we need him to be. His stuff is good...his noggin is in the toilet. *UPDATED* Gaveup three unearned runs on six hits during a three inning rehab start with Single-A Jupiter on Sunday.
