I remember when he was first signed most of you were down on it, saying that he didnt have the bat speed, that his numbers will never be the same and that he just plain sucks. After spring training most of you kept going with it as to why Beinfest paid this guy $1mil to suck and be a "club house presence" well what do you think now? the guy has been nothing short of amazing and has come up time and time again regardless of where you put him in the lineup.

to the Boone haters:

SUCK IT!

:whistle

I was never partically opposed to the signing, just didn't think it was all that necessary, but Boone has shown he is quite valuable indeed. Well worth the $1 million he's being paid. Hopefully we can keep him next year(as long as he doesn't play basketball in the offseason). He's probably gone after the season though since someone is bound to give him a starting job.

boone> helms

Look at the Boone' RISP. It's .533/.600/.733

WOW

There was actually "Boone haters"?

I remember most people being pretty pleased with the addition.

RALLY BAA-BOONE-YYYYYY!!!

There are definatly Boone haters, just not amongst the Marlin fanbase.

there was one in particular that I remember....and he also thought Helms was a huge off-season loss. Helms has been miserable for Philly losing playing time to Abraham Nunez

Was this the same one who blindly despised Kevin Gregg?

I wasnt happy the move was made, I wasnt mad the move was made...I was basically "meh" on the entire thing and hoped he could have a comeback year.

I think that was the overall feeling of pretty much everyone.

basically correct. just a few thought it was a terrible move.

I was definately intrigued by the signing and Boone is definately paying off huge right now. Hopefully he can keep up this kind of production all season long :thumbup

Closers and bench hitters seemed to thrive here.

no...

that was his dad... :mischief

I can think of maybe one person who was hating on Boone at the beginning of the season.

Im not sure what the thread starter is getting at.

In fact, I dont recall the thread starter predicting Boone's great play thusfar.

Im confused.

I just like the fact that wherever you put him in the lineup he seems ot make the best of it. He also hasnt look all that bad at 1st.

Im not trying to get anywhere I just remember that when the signing happened a lot of "seasoned" posters were pretty down on him and his number from last year, thats all. I hope he keeps it up because right now he has been on a tear

I remember the same, in addition to the bitching due to him taking a bench spot from our youngters after an abismal spring

With Jacobs on the DL, our lineup would be rather screwed without Boone on the team. We'd have yet another black hole in the lineup, which we hardly need right now. There should always been a Boonesque player on the team if we want to stay competitive.

I remember some on this board wanted to Keep Wood over Boone during spring training.

We did keep Wood, and he's been excellent.
