Who should the Marlins go after? (Centerfielder)

Featured Replies

just call up Jacoby Ellsb....

f***

Who did the Sox want from us? Maybe somehow we can kidnap him.

What kind of deal would it take?

I bet Cody Ross and couple prospects would do it...

Maybe

Sinkbeil

Ross

Tucker

Considering Sink's injury problems, Tucker's lack of control and the fact Ross ain't much.. no

Jacoby would easily cost us Volstad or Thompson+

then again, the Sox have no reason to move Jacoby

I dont know why no body is talking about a guy that we prob have the best chance to get. Willy Taveras is having a great year. I know some of you guys dont like him but i think he fits here perfect. A CF with good speed will bat lead off and is the guy that we can trade for with out giving up a lot. I would love to get Baldelli but that would cost a lot b/c its Tampa. Rios would the most. Lofton to old and next year he wont be here and then the search for a CF begins again next year.

Taveras batting Avg is .322 and OBP is .385 and 13 SB/ if you guys look at his home avg .296 (in colorado) .347 on the road.

Reyes OBP is .396 and Hanley is .390

His first year in houstom he batted .291 (good) 34 SB

and his 2nd year he batted .278 (not that bad) 33 SB

I think he is our best option involving a trade (that wont cost us the world and he is better then alfredo/reggie/de aza)

He's Juan Pierre v 2.0. His OBP is entirely dependent on his AVG. And AVG fluctuates too much.

Actually, he's walking a bit more this year, which I like. If he could cut down on the caught stealing he may work, but he's not the future. If we could get him for cheap I wouldn't mind, but he has no power at all...

do u really think colorado got him, just to trade him away. you said it yourself, hes having a good season, why would colorado want to trade him now. they got him to be the future CF.

The reason why colorado would trade him is for the same reason other bad teams trade players. ( they got no chance this year.) Rockies are always going to need pitching and thats the reason they would trade him.

And who would you propose we move for Taveras?

can someone PLEASE tell me why they think Rocco Baldelli is special?

hes injured 98% of the time, and isnt that much better of what we already have.

Well when he is healthy he is better than 98% of all other CF

Ichiro, Hunter, Rowand, others?

When I say I don't care what position he plays I'm saying it in the figurative sense but I don't care who they get as long as he bats behind Cabrera and provides him the protection he needs to hit the .350 and 30+ HRs he's capable of. Someone who strikes fear into the heart of other pitching rotations, someone who commands respect, someone who forces opposing pitchers to actually pitch to Miggy. Left, center, right. First base, catcher. Aside from Uggla, and Ramirez of course, I have no problem throwing anyone under the bus if it means Cabrera starts seeing hittable pitches on a consistent basis.

Any names pop into mind. Strikes fear into the heart of pitchers. I don't think there's any catchers that fit that job description that would be traded. Not sure there's any first basemen or outfielders either. But if you have someone in mind that fits the bill, and the price is right, which means lint in Loria's pocket...please share.

Theres no way Baldelli is a top 2 Cf, i dont think he is even top 15. but feel free and make me wrong

and Soriano plays LF

Rocco falls in after (and in no order here) Vernon Wells, Ichiro, Beltran, Sizemore, Torrii Hunter

Forgot Grady Sizemore

I thinl Rocco is a bit better than Wells

BTW Andruw Jones as great as he has been has dropped back to the pack defensively and offensively...He is still is a good player but the shine is wearing off

Fox actually if you look at the numbers considering difference in number of games played Wells and Baldelli's stats are very similar. I just feel that Baldelli has a higher ceiling and hasn't tapped into his full potential

Except Rocco spends more time on the DL than he does on the field. Wells is a lot better because he can actually stay healthy for an entire season.

I'd take Wells in a heartbeat. And in that heartbeat, Rocco would have gone and come off the DL atleast 8 times.

23 of 28, if Baldelli is healthy then he is better then potentially. Debatable the potentials for one of the other like Pence and Young which are better long term.

But he is a top 10 CF in baseball if he would be healthy but the price for him would be far too much and would he be healthy?

Rather get BJ Upton.
