I think at this stage, i'd consider that an understatement, especially with Olsen starting one out of every 5. If you wanna say the team is free falling, I don't even have a superlative negative enough to describe how he's pitched. I'll just enjoy each game one at a time from this point, I really think that if you're holding out hope for any kind of serious playoff run from this team at this point, your energy is being spent very poorly. While it may seem like we make every journeyman look like Cy Young, we're 2nd in the NL in runs scored. There are 14 other teams in the National League that a pitcher would prefer to face than the Marlins. Bad offensive outings happen. When your starting pitching is as bad as ours has been this season, there's going to be a lot of games where the offense can't bail out the pitching.
August 1, 200719 yr this team has major problems playing in front of nobody. it's no wonder why this team performs so much better on the road in general. at the start of the game i think there were 800 people in the stands. another day, another blunder for hermida. seriously how many of those plays has he made this year without having an error charged? i understand that it's a base it but if you turn it into a triple by making a silly attempt to slide, you should get an error. I can only speak for myself and those with whom I watch the games, but the past week has been painful and depressing. Especially getting swept in Arizona. Especially that last game. And this is as a fan. I know his perspective is different, but those are (or should be for him) heartbreaking losses. And as we continue to give up ground in a winnable division, you can only make yourself so happy about your 1-3 hitters.

When your starting pitching is as bad as ours has been this season, there's going to be a lot of games where the offense can't bail out the pitching. Wellll... What I have observed is how bad this team is vs sinkerball pitchers. Alot of that has to do with the free swinging style of most of our bats, IMO. Vs this kind of pitcher that translates into alot of ground ball outs. And this guy's last few outings have been pretty damn impressive. His last one a 74 pitch complete game vs a division rival?? Very nice. Actually this game ended up pretty much the way I thought it would. And that was paying attention to the fact that Scotty was 6-2 at home and 2-6 away going into this game. When I see the opposing pitcher is this type I just cringe.
August 1, 200719 yr I don't like to blame the game on an Ump, but balls and strikes were unbearable last night. Why did we have so many strikeouts and sh*tty hit groundballs? Because our guys figured out that they had to swing at EVERYTHING, because if they didn't it would be called a strike anyways. And then, to show a complete lack of constancy, our pitchers got squeezed into a strikezone the size of a matchbox!
