August 21, 200718 yr :happydance I'll press the button if it gets a ballpark built faster. What is the reality of this happening? I'd say there is a really good possibility of that. I think in the next few weeks we will start to see the wheels start turning at the rate they were turning earlier this year. The city committed $88M of CDT to renovate the OB, my understanding is, they can shift that money towards a new ballpark just by holding a public hearing. Part of the deal is that after 2010, the UM is second behind the dolphins in priority and that the infield will no longer be there-THUS-Wayne will no longer be accomodating if there is no stadium built. Something has to happen soon, one way or the other, and it will. Carpet-like sod* over the infield gives the Marlins a few more seasons at DS. *Natural stuff, not artificial

August 21, 200718 yr The Orange Bowl site is better than nothing and now it looks like it will finally get done. Screw you Vegas, San Antonio, Portland, North Carolina, Samsonville and any other city that tried to get the Marlins. The Miami Marlins are staying.
August 21, 200718 yr WOW! Finally,it is done! Next on the agenda: DOWNTOWN vs OB Lets see how long it takes the City and County to talk MLB and Loria into the OB site! (or vise versa). It's simply an argument of money. They already own the Orange Bowl site, and it already has infrastructure in place. Money that can be saved to make it a retractable roof facility, to say the least of filling in the long-fabled "money gap".
August 21, 200718 yr What about parking at the new stadium will they have room to put a few parking garages?
August 21, 200718 yr Next step: Fire Dave Samson I agree. And I don't think you are joking. Samson shouldn't be allow to mess with any negotiations directly or inderectly (i.e. running his mouth LeBatards show).
August 21, 200718 yr What about parking at the new stadium will they have room to put a few parking garages? Parking garages suck especially for a stadium. If they tear down the OB they can fit a stadium on the land and have ample parking for most people. The others are gonna have to park at my aunts house.

August 21, 200718 yr Manny Diaz (not word for word): We didn't see the sense in renovating a facility for 6 home dates. We have a 40 acre site now that will play a big part in redeveloping the area. http://www.miamiherald.com/924/gallery/209883.html?number=1
August 21, 200718 yr There is enough parking on the site for a 37-38k seat baseball stadium. Manny Diaz said it was a 40 acre site, a baseball stadium of that size usually takes up 15-18 acres.

August 21, 200718 yr WOW! Finally,it is done! Next on the agenda: DOWNTOWN vs OB Without on site parking either site will SUCK. I remember to many bad experiences going to basketball and hockey games at the old Miami Arena and games at the Orange Bowl. Hoping your car would still be where you parked it, when the game was over, or wondering what would get stolen from the car, while you were in the game. Either one of those spots, without ON SITE parking, will stop me from coming to any more games.

August 21, 200718 yr The Orange Bowl site is such a sh*tty site for a Marlins Stadium.Sure its got the space we need, but look at the surrounding crappy area.We need to move to a nicer site further Downtown.

I just hope that is a Major consideration to what ever site it is built on. I was recently at a baseball game in Boston, and we had to park almost a mile from Fenway Park and pay $15.00, then hike a mile to see the game. Guess I have been spoiled by the games being at Dolphin Stadium. We travel over 3 hours from here, to get to Marlins games, and it is nice to have the parking right there at the stadium.

Its pretty much more convenient for most people in Boston the way Fenway is set up. Many who are going to the games also are not driving their cars to work but rather are taking the T or whatever. So theyre already downtown and its just a short ride to Kenmore after work. I guess youre idea is to move the stadium out of Boston to a spot similar to the Patriots but that just isnt where the BOSTON Red Sox belong

August 21, 200718 yr This is a great moment in taking the next step forward in our franchise. New Stadium= More Money= Resigning Players= Happy Fans

In my 40 yrs of going to the OB, I still feel nor see any concern. I would venture a guess that there is more crime around the old Miami Arena (when I went to UM basketball with 1000 people there or Panther and Heat games) or the new AAA. There might be some vandalism but crime has not been an issue for anyone going to Hurricane games, High School games, soccer games etc.
