November 21, 200718 yr LINK MIAMI -- Major League Baseball approached the Marlins a few weeks ago about playing a few home games in Puerto Rico, and if the offer is right, the team said it would be receptive. "It's extremely preliminary," said P.J. Loyello, the Marlins' senior vice president of communications and broadcasting. "It would have to make complete sense for us to even entertain the thought." One series being discussed is the Marlins playing host to the Mets during a July 28-30 series in San Juan. But those games are just one possibility. Loyello noted that if the Marlins indeed agree to play a series in Puerto Rico, it doesn't necessarily have to be against the Mets or those three games in late July. The Marlins have played in San Juan before, during the 2003 and '04 seasons when they were the visitors taking on the Montreal Expos, who relocated in 2005 to Washington and became the Nationals. The Marlins are in the process of trying to secure funding for a new retractable-roof stadium in Miami. Florida is under lease to play at Dolphin Stadium through the 2010 season. November 22, 200718 yr I am from Puerto Rico and I loved when MLB teams played exhibitions over there but as a Marlin fan, I have to say it really is of no impact financially unless they plan to develop a fan base over there with an intensive scouting program

I dont like the idea because of the context of this ownership however i suspect if a deal for the orange bowl isnt announced by opening day I think that will be our answer if the Florida Marlins will remain in Florida

Sadly that is true and because of this the Puerto Rican Baseball Talent in the majors is greatly decreased. A lot of it is being missed
