Post game thread. June 1st.

-Jake looks like he is back. Three nice swings.

-Cantu hurt us with another one of his errors. Eventhough he got that clutch double I still mad at him :lol . (A third baseman SHOULD be getting clutch hits and fielding good but he is not doing that). He is hitting UNDER .270 and on pace for 36 errors. THIRTY SIX guys that is over a games worth of outs. A third baseman should be hitting over .300. *ends vent* :sweating.

-Miller looked okay out there. The walks really killed him.

-Other offense was meh today. Every day it seems like only one or two guys contribute and the others collapse.

-Bullpen was meh.

Get them tomorrow boys :kiss .

Hanley keeps taking the outside pitch for a called third strike;it's freaking ridiculous. :banghead

another thing is uggla, he is slumpin big time now, which is terrible timing with willingham injured and our schedule in June

Ugh, Cantu is awful defensively. And the bullpen looked like crap today. Can they hold leads anymore? I thought we had a chance to win after that 4-run lead. Guess not.

i honestly cannot say that i did not expect that. When we had that 5-1 lead i said to myself that i wish it was the 8th inning cause i knew the phillies were gonna come back.

They do it everytime and it seems like those sunday games against the phillies are cursed. We have seen this a million times and until that changes were gona have problems.

Its enough saying that we COULD have won 2 of 3. We need to start doing it

Nothing new. Same old Marlins baseball. Walks and errors leading to runs. I'm almost numb to the stupidity at this point.

BTW still have no confidence in Rabelo to call a game and Fredi's 7th inning circus was dumb, but not unexpected.

I can't wait till next year when some of our SMART AA players are ready and we have a more sound team.

This year's team is just not good enough to win anything.

Exactly. The Marlins had a chance to take 2 from the Mets and the Phillies. For those who say it is early, I disagree. A win is a win , a loss is a loss at the end of the season when teams either move on in October or watch the playoffs at home on tv. Road trips, tough schedule, it doesn't matter. Good teams find a way to win ballgames and in the 3rd game of the last 2 series that has not been the case with the Fish. Hopefully, the marlins can do some damage against the Braves and take back first place.

I have another thread about the quick hook, but I don't see any reason why Miller should not have at least started the 6th inning. Also, this park is bad for visiting teams. The Phillies are used to it, so they just approach hitting normally and just enjoy the benefits for being in the little park, and they don't sweat the starter ERA because they know it is going to be inflated. Visiting teams are fast to the bullpen and it looks like everyone is trying to kill the ball.

I agree, it seems like whenever we walk a guy or make an error it turns into a big inning. Who knows what would have happend if Cantu did not make that error. I also agree on Rabelo, he is just not that great.... at the plate and calling the game. Stinks that we don't have a catcher in the minors who would be ready next year.

Add it to the list of items needed when the stadium opens: A catcher who can call a game, is solid defensively and can hit with some power

The 3rd game against the Mets was a case study in 'sh*t happens'. A guy that hasn't hit a HR hits one off of a guy that hasn't allowed one? Not a normal event. This game is much more about winning what we should. The Phillies runs are a result of throwing error, fielding error, HBP, etc.

I disagree. In the 3rd game with the Mets, the Marlins had the lead TWICE from the 9th inning on and both times the bullpen gave it up

Why don't you guys check all teams around MLB, and name 1 that hasn't had a couple of games like this?

...and the bullpen is good. It's as EricWiener says...right now, Freddi has a quick hook. Miller could've pitched the 6th today, but for some reason did not.

For those of you, saying this team isn't good enough, and that you're waiting for next year already...don't comeback and be all happy, and say "stupid Baseball Tonight...they called us flukes," later on, when we get wins. B/c right now, you guys are only worse.

It's 162 game season...losing leads, etc. happens. The Phillies did it last night.

Yep, I think once Tucker, Volstad, Thompson, Miller, Olsen (maybe), Hernandez etc etc gets settle into our rotation we maybe could trade some of our other pitchers in the minors for a catcher. That is our biggest weakness.

Who was up in the 6th for the Phillies. if it was near the bottom of the line-up, Andrew shoulda been allowed to go 1 more inning.

With all the young arms coming up through the system, I wonder if Olsen will be traded

Yea, I think he has to prove himself this year. After this year, its all up in the air. He has been with us since 2005? right. Its been like 3 years and he only has shown us short flashes of good pitching.

Great offense, but with the exception of Nolasco yesterday our pitching has been crap the past two series.

Did you watch Miller today?

Our defense stinks , our starting pitching is below average , our offense is feast or famine and yet we are still over .500 in june less than 2 games back given everything I am happy where we are at . That said Jones and Rabelo are useless and our line up is not balanced adaquately to deal with left hand pitching.
