July 6, 200818 yr I'd replace Olsen with Volstad. I think the Fish will try and trade Olsen, Jacobs, Gregg, and a couple of the veteran bullpen arms. Perhaps they'll gain a serviceable Catcher or 3B, younger bullpen arms, and any spare parts. But without the impact of trades, here's my lineup for next year in no order: SS Hanley 2B Uggla 3B McPherson 1B Cantu LF Willingham CF Maybin RF Hermida C Treanor/Trade Bench: Andino Baker/Hoover/Rabelo Cody Helms/Gonzo type FA Amezega Rotation: Volstad Miller JJ Anibal Nolasco Bullpen: Waechter Lindstrom Tucker Vanden Hurk Pinto Kensing? July 6, 200818 yr Players I'd like to see on the trading block: Hermida and Jacobs. Olsen could be an option, but the recovery of JJ, Anibal and the development of Volstad, Tucker, etc. will play a large role in this. Anibal as a closer could also be an option. I really like Raynor and then there's obviously Maybin There are too may ways things can go, but here is a rough outline of what I'd like to see: . C- Trade 1B- McPherson/Cantu/Willingham 2B- Uggla SS- Hanley 3B-McPherson/Coghlan LF- Willingham/Hermida/Raynor CF- Maybin RF- Raynor/Hermida I think Gaby Sanchez would be a good chip to get a reliever from an AL club. I think Coghlan could be expendable, but it seems to me the FO is high on him and will find a spot for him. Defense needs to be evaluated at every position. Position changes for Hermida, Willingham, and Cantu (whoever is here of the bunch) need to be looked into. I imagine much of the pitching will be a competition going into ST. I really hope to see a healthy Henry Owens back. How Carlos Martinez does as this year progresses should be something to watch as he can be a key part of a pen next year fully back from TJ. We'll also see how a year of development in AA for RVH helps him and how Gardner looks next year. The more Mitre does not pitch this year, the cheaper an option he can be for a rotation spot next year. Just my 2 cents :cool

I am speaking of course, of Johnson, Nolasco, Sanchez, and Olsen. Converting a good starter into an ace reliever would do wonders for this team in the future. If you don't have the talent in the bullpen, add it from the starting rotation. You can't have great starting pitcher while sacrificing the bullpen. As we learn this year, both must have equal or around equal talent levels to be effective. I would personally consider Olsen for this job. He's going to arbitration...think of signing him to a one year deal as adding a good bullpen arm that we desperately need. A starting rotation of Miller, Johnson, Nolasco, Mitre, (whoever else wins the job) would be more than adequate to compete. Plus, he's a left hander, something we need since Tankersly is just imploding badly.

Or how about sanchez. i doubt after his injury he can log innings as a starter. so he would be perfect in the pen. maybe a closer? :mis2

July 6, 200818 yr I'm pretty sure Maybin will be ready to start by next year if he continues to improve in the minors. (Please correct if I'm wrong, I haven't checked his monthly splits lately). He'll definitely get a chance in September, but I suspect his playing time will be determined by our chances to make the playoffs.
