Honest AS Game voting question

Featured Replies

Where you voting for Uggla because he's a marlin or did you actually feel he was the best 2B the NL had to offer?

Because although I am a Marlins fan and an Uggle fan I personally voted for Utley because he is hands down the best 2B. I know people across the country are not all like me and they vote for some one they like and not someone who is deserving.

So who did you vote for and why?

Because although I am a Marlins fan and an Uggle fan I personally voted for Utley because he is hands down the best 2B. I know people across the country are not all like me and they vote for some one they like and not someone who is deserving.

So who did you vote for and why?

because Uggla is a Marlin and Chase had that God awful slump.

He has been batting .295 for a month now.

I voted for Dan Uggla because he was arguably the best 2B THIS YEAR. Really, Utley and Uggla have been a wash. At the end of ASG voting, they were tied in HRs and had a nearly identical OPS, with Danny only .002 over him. Danny had more XBH per hits, and a higher slugging. Utley walked more and had a higher on-base.

Right now:

Utley is .294/.378/.594
Uggla is .289/.375/.620

Uggla has the offensive edge, if slightly.

They've even been pretty equal on defense this year by most metrics, with Utley up a little bit.

Utley has the defensive edge, if slightly.

So I went with Dan Uggla.

Ever so slightly with the defense favoring Utley but I do think Uggla is quite the defensive second baseman himself and will only get better.

I voted for Uggla, of course.

Not only because Im a Marlins fan, but because I believe he deserved it.

Utley is having a great year,no doubt, but SO is Dan!

The only reason I think he got that many votes is because he's more popular,

and because a lot just, frankly, jumped on the bandwagon of who was in first.

That's why he was overshadowed..

But hey, who cares anymore.. he's going to New York, and going to win the Homerun Derby :thumbup

Agreed and I like the point you made on the home run derby!

:welcome

And Uggla Plays In a Huge Ball Park and Chase Ugly plays in a Little League Park!!!

I wonder what Utley, Rollins and Howard's #'s would be if they would play in this park.

They'd probably combine for like 2 home runs.

That's a great point, especially when you look at their Home/Away splits.

Utley slugs nearly .100 more at home than on the road.

Uggla of course slugs about .100 more on the road than at home. Then again, Sluggla's OPS on the road is a ridiculous 1.074, which is more than the .988 Utley has in the shoebox he plays in.

Imagine Uggla and Hanley Hitting In Philly for 82 games. There #'s would be crazy! All those doubles they bang of the wall, those would be HR's in Philly.

For the record, I voted:

McCann, C

Berkman, 1B

Uggla, 2B

Chipper, 3B

McClouth, OF

Soriano, OF

I could never pick a 3rd OFer.

I voted for Uggla because he deserves to be there, he has been incredible this season and has actually been better than Utley for a good part of the past couple of months.

I also voted for Giovany Soto, Lance Bergman and Hamilton.

They've even been pretty equal on defense this year by most metrics, with Utley up a little bit.

Utley has the defensive edge, if slightly.

Actually quite the opposite. Utley has been probably the best defensive 2B this year, with an obscene 44 out of zone plays this year (the second highest, Ellis, only has 24). I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Utley could not only play SS, but play it better than Rollins.

Meanwhile, although improved off last year, Uggla is still at the bottom of the league in fielding for 2Bs.

but yeah, Uggla also has a big offensive advantage this year considering the ball park differences.

For the record, I voted:

McCann, C

Berkman, 1B

Uggla, 2B

Chipper, 3B

McClouth, OF

Soriano, OF

I could never pick a 3rd OFer.

why did you vote for Soriano? He's been hurt...

Btw, I voted for McLouth also. I also voted for Ryan Braun...I forgot who my 3rd OF'er was. lol.

Our picks were basically the same...I'm assuming you voted for Hanley. :D

I could never pick a 3rd OFer.

I thought Hunter Pence had done good.. voted for him as one.

I too voted for Rabelo for a while :lol

Buuut... then switched to Soto :whistle

I'm a homer so I only vote for Marlins.

Same here. But Uggla absolutely deserved to be in the ASG.

Chase Ugly is a douchebag.

No argument here.

Nor here. I can't stand him and I'm sick of hearing about him all the damn time.

I voted for Uggla because, as a Marlins fan for 16 years, there is no way I would EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER vote for a Met, a Phillie, or a Brave, REGARDLESS of how they're numbers add up... I never vote for the AL All-Stars and very rarely will I vote for NL Central or West player, although I wouldn't be against casting that vote... And I don't care if any players are "Former-Marlins"... if they aren't "Current Marlins," then they're gonna have to post some impressive numbers and not be a Met, Phillie or Brave!

With that... GO MARLINS!

I voted for Uggla because Utley was so far ahead, I wanted Uggla to have a good showing and at least beat out Kaz f***ing Matsui in the voting. I was pretty honest in the most of the other races, I wouldn't vote for Rabelo or Jacobs or anything like that.
