July 28, 200817 yr Tonight 3-4 (so far) those hits would be homeruns No. 36, 37 and 38. Yeah, I'd say he's back.
July 28, 200817 yr JESUS BOOBIE LICKING!!!! Thats insane. 38 in a season at this point. I kinda want to leave him there to see how many he can hit!
July 28, 200817 yr hopefully by the trade deadline we see him at third and cantu at 1st. trade jake for pudge or bengie
July 28, 200817 yr Just trade Jake for catching and/or relief, move Cantu to first and call this beast up already! Jake had a damn good showing today...perfect timing....
July 28, 200817 yr Just trade Jake for catching and/or relief, move Cantu to first and call this beast up already! Jake had a damn good showing today...perfect timing.... exactly, stock on the rise, teams will see his 22 home runs and think he is having an awesome season.
July 28, 200817 yr Author Jake, good showing today or no, may be more difficult to trade than some think and the problem becomes for the Marlins if Amezaga is the only guy who can play the middle of the infield and has already been placed in the game in let's say centerfield in the middle of the game, who plays center if Amezaga has to replace someone in the infield or conversely, who plays center if he does. Andino is Amezaga's shock absorber. I suspect the answer that is emerging is that McPherson is learning to play first so Cantu can move to SS or 2nd in an emergency and Helms plays third, or flip flop them. Jacobs is a blessing and a curse but you have to think they can't keep McPherson down much longer and Andino is the odd man out (which in some respects weakens Fredi's hand)/
July 28, 200817 yr Wow this guy is really tearing it up...there is no way he spends the whole season in the minor.

July 28, 200817 yr Author Darn, another hit 4-5, lousy single. BTW, I know all the Cody Ross lovers will think me a turncoat but Tommy Murphy has been playing the heck out of centerfield since arriving in Albuquerque.
July 28, 200817 yr Author Interesting side note. McPherson hit one over the left field fence, one over centerfield and the last one over the right. An equal opportunity masher.
July 28, 200817 yr When he gets called up, its going to be a festive day for the Marlins fan. IF he EVER gets called up.... If this doesn't get the front office's attention, nothing will.
July 28, 200817 yr There will be a shake up, and it will come by wednesday. Our FO will not hang our team out to dry like that. Dallas will be in a marlins uni soon. He also has a good name, dallas McPherson. I can hear that name resonating on Baseball Tonight.
July 28, 200817 yr I've been a Jorge Cantu defender and supporter since spring training but the Marlins absolutely need to call McPherson up, PCL or no PCL. Just bench Jacobs for a couple of starts and play McPherson at third. Can someone please list some reasons why this would NOT be a good idea? I really don't see any. If it's an issue of space on the roster, just send down Andino.

What? How did this turn into a middle infield conversation? I'm sooooo confused. :confused Are you trying to say Andino has more trade value than Jacobs, here? :confused

July 28, 200817 yr He didn't word it very well but I'm pretty sure he's actually responding to Peng about sending down Andino and benching Jacobs. If Jake is on the bench, then our only MI is Alfredo. And although we're plentiful with corner OFers, our only CFers would then be Cody and Alfredo. However, I think a situation would be rather rare where Cody isn't available (either already used/taken out, or injured but not on the DL), Alfredo's already in Center, and then a MI is needed either by injury or double switcheroo. And if it does happen, Hermida can play out the game in CF. And Cantu does have experience at SS and ofcoarse ML 2B experience.

He'll either be traded, or will remain our starting 1B.
