Who is the Marlins' captain ?

Featured Replies

I don't know why some of you are making jokes about this, Mike Lowell was our Team Captain a couple years back.

I dont think thats true.

Anyone want to back their story?

the marlins HAVE never announced a team captain EVER. Right now Treanor might the unofficial captain of the team

Fredi is on 790 today at 1:30. perhaps someone interested could call in and ask. I'm walking into a meeting in two minutes.

I can be 100% wrong but I do believe in years past, before 2006, the team did have a captain or had captains some of the years but again if someone knows better fine, I'm just not sure.

I coach a girls softball team and we have captains. They mainly keep track of whose birthday it is and who just broke up with their boyfriend.

I don't recall the Marlins ever having had a captain. I need documentation.

in baseball there all captains but not particuarly Major League Baseball

Example I paly on 2 teams

a Travel Team and my high school team

on my travel team im the captain beacuse im 1 of the better players and has been with most of the players since we were 9

in high school im a freshman but we are picking captains to basically be vocal leaders

Vocal leaders is what the marlins have they pick each other up keep each other confident and play together( with the occasion of a huge mistake or meltdown)

every 1 is basically a leader in 1 way or another

so no captains on this team

lol nice link, I however do not remember that either...

However when I played baseball I always saw the Catcher, SS, and CF'er as the "captains"...

Im not sure where its written, but i do remember hearing about Lowell being the Captain of the team. Just dont have the evidience to show you guys.

Well, I guess from what I've heard...Gonzo and Helms are the "clubhouse leaders" on the team.

And Kevin Gregg is the "leader" in the bullpen.

Those three are very well respected, supposedly.

Take it for what it's worth, however.

I personally don't like to say these things, b/c I don't know these guys in person. I only see what they do on the field.

In addition to the teams mentioned I remember Barry Larkin used to be the Reds' captain and John Franco was the Mets' captain. Franco actually wore the C. I think Mike Lowell was the team's player rep (before Beckett) and the unnofficial spokesman but I really don't remember the captain thing. Maybe he was but I don't recall that.

Yeah, I too remember reading somewhere that Lowell had been "captain" for the Florida Marlins back in like.. 2004? I wish I could remember where, but that was a while ago when I was mad obsessing over these guys. I don't know that we have one right now.
