Well, as I've always said...Fredi's probably a good off the field manager.

But as far as what he and every other manager does ON THE FIELD...it's not that hard, if you know the game of baseball. Especially in the American League...all American League managers have to do in games, is make out the lineup card. No double switches, etc. At least NL managers do SOME work.

Dont forget you have to earn the respect of your players and have good communication with them. Also remember you have to handle the media and fans that will react to your decisions. Its easier said than done.

As I've said...Fredi gets too much credit when the team wins, and too much blame when the team loses. It's like that with all managers.

 

Most of his work comes off the field. The most important thing is gaining the respect of the players. After that, you just have to know the game.
