September 19, 200818 yr Personally if maybin can keep this good eye hes got i like him in the leadoff spot then baker cause he will give maybin cahnces to steal and he has the best eye on the team plus late in the game it gives you that righty lefty righty. 4 spot cantu 5 uggla then what ever you guys want. Does Maybin's stance bother any one else i realize hes hitting with it but i was watching a college game one time and Brain jordan from the braves was saying this one tall kid who crouched down so low was losing alot of power and he should stand taller. I guess maybin did this to cut down on his swing and if hes gonna be a leadoof guy im fine with it. Theres a pretty powerful hitter that crouches very low that goes by the name of Albert Pujols.

But bagwell was short any way and he exploded up ward with his swing something maybin doesnt do. Also mor ebuilt than maybin. I just dont like him so low but if it works for him than im all for it and so far it has. Ill bet thought it changes slightly by next year.
September 19, 200818 yr i like the Maybin, Sanchez, Hanley Looks good. LF should be an interesting spot come next year whoever mans that position.

Maybin: 6'4", 205 Bagwell: 6'0", 215 You're basing your opinion off that small a difference?
September 19, 200818 yr Maybin: 6'4", 205 Bagwell: 6'0", 215 You're basing your opinion off that small a difference? that's a huge difference
September 19, 200818 yr Maybin: 6'4", 205 Bagwell: 6'0", 215 You're basing your opinion off that small a difference? that's a huge difference Hardly enough to call Bagwell short compared to Maybin.

September 19, 200818 yr You guys do know what player are listed as is usally off. Ill bet bag well isnt 6,0. But nay way thi sis just my opinion about his stance if it works for him which it seems to ill shut up about it.

September 19, 200818 yr I would prefer Maybin, Gaby Sanchez, Hanley. Sanchez needs to actually perform at the MLB level (IMO) before he replaces the guy with the 2nd highest OBP on the team (among those who've had significant playing time this year), that being Baker. Honestly, someone posted a lineup in here with Baker batting 8?!?!? Just cause the guy's a catcher doesn't mean he hits like Matt Treanor or Paul Hoover. Baker belongs in the #2 spot until someone else can demonstrate better OBP ability. Now why would I think Sanchez should earn his spot and am fine with Maybin leading off? Part of it just has to do with my opinion that a good #2 hitter is harder to come by than a good leadoff hitter. Another is that the team has been trying to get Hanley into the middle of the order for a while now, and Maybin is, on top of being a big prospect and future star, the best guy to fit the leadoff hitter mold in the organization. And in the two days so far of opportunities he has had so far, he hasn't made any real mistakes. Now if Maybin comes out of ST batting 210 or something like that, then I'm ok batting him 7th or 8th until he gets it going again.
September 19, 200818 yr Is there a reason why there's like a "Raynor hate parade" going on, all of the sudden? Why CAN'T he play LF? Willingham is likely gone next year...there's no guarantee of Cody Ross coming back (he's arbritation eligible). I'd be willing to bet that Raynor will at least get a chance to battle for the LF spot in Spring Training. Heck...I wouldn't even count on Hermida being back. I still don't like the idea of trading a guy with Hermida's potential (and not getting equal potential back)...but as of right now, I'm sure Fredi Gonzalez isn't very pleased with Hermida, to say the least.

I will honestly be surprised if Hermida is back, even if Maybin is ready. I would sooner expect the team to keep Cody in RF, and then I think LF is the question mark. While I don't expect it, they could keep Hammer. And if not him, there's Raynor (if he's ready). On the off chance that "Mr. Glass" Alejandro De Aza actually comes in and stays healthy, why not him in LF? If one of the team's likely focuses next year will be on improving defense, how much better could they do for the OF then have 3 CF out there?

But, he was built more like Pujols than Maybin. Plus, he would straighten out as he swung. That said, DON'T MESS WITH MAYBIN. Next thing you know, someone will ask Willis to change his leg kick...oh wait.

I think its just MarlinsLou who hates Raynor for some reason. He seems to be stuck in the traditional baseball mindset that corner outfielders have to be huge sluggers and huge RBI men. Raynor is definitely not that. But you don't have to hit home runs and you don't have to get a ton of RBI to "produce". A high on base percentage is production in of itself. We have a second baseman who has 30 home runs. We can easily get the power production ELSEWHERE in our line up. But power is not really that great if there's no one on base to drive in...
September 19, 200818 yr Maybin would be out of place in the lead off spot, just like Hanley is. Those guys are gonna be huge middle of the line up hitters who make everyone around them better. You don't put hitters like that in the lead off spot. Well, I gotta say that it's awesome having the most productive leadoff hitter in baseball. Yes, that is true. But if St. Louis stuck Pujols in the lead off spot, he would be the most awesome lead off hitter in baseball. I mean hey, the guy gets on base a lot, right? Why not put him there? Because it makes no sense. You give the best hitters on your team the best chances to drive in runs. For the Marlins, Hanley is easily the best overall hitter, and Maybin could project to be another.

September 20, 200818 yr Considering Raynor isn't here next year (which, barring a blowup in spring training, he won't be) who do you suggest? Considering Raynor is not a corner outfielder Considering outfielders are pretty flexible.
September 20, 200818 yr I retract my statement about his stance it works great, hes 4-4 again. IT def works for him.

Haha, awesome response. Trust me, I understand this and completely agree. I've stated many times that despite his extremely short time in the 3 spot, Hanley should be there.
