September 28, 200818 yr Despite apparently putting Uggla in the shop window, I wouldnt be suprised to see him here on Opening Day 2009. Maybe they just want to see what exactly other teams would be willing to give up to get him, and should it not be deemed suitable, I for one would happily see Uggla back here next season.
September 28, 200818 yr The Marlins won't be just giving Uggla away, if someone wants him their offer will need to be very strong...Jake can be had with a song and a dance. I am gonna say without any hesitation, Cody Ross will be a Marlin through 2009. You just can't find anyone better suited for the 4th outfielder's role anywhere
September 28, 200818 yr Who can we get for Jacobs anyway? I know we can get a top prospect for uggla, but i dont think we can get much for jacobs, unless it is from an AL team. That all depends who we're trading with. A lot of teams wouldn't mind a possible 40 HR threat...especially in the AL. Trade him to a team who's in need of some slugging, and I think we can get a decent prospect, in return. The toronto Blue jays are perfect trading partners. They were competing this year, but they were a terrible slugging team. Maybe a slugger like mike jacobs can help them out. Also, they have a young catcher by the name of J.P Arenchibia who mashes lefties. Maybe we can trade Mike Jacobs to the blue jays for him, and have a nice little platoon with arenchibia and Baker I want travis sinder from the jays for uggla or jake. And why do yuo want to platoon baker? I also have a feeling uggla's hear next year unless some one blows them away with a crazy offer. Jut on a side note Peter Gammons was disscusing our offseason the other day on the radio and said he could definently see us trading anibal.
September 28, 200818 yr So Many things can Happen this offseason with all the Players we are willing to trade and the Players in the Market. I Just hope beinfest makes smart moves and gets players that will help this team get to the postseason ASAP and for many years to come. In Beinfest I Trust *gulp*
September 28, 200818 yr The key factor is money. A guy like Uggla might command a lot of money. So its not just whether we can get a great deal for Uggla, but whether Loria wants to dole out the cash to keep him, and whether he tells Beinfest to get the best deal and not necessarily the perfect deal. We don't know if Loria is going to open his check book or not so that they can retain players. I trust Beinfest, but the decisions are not entirely revolving around what HE wants to do.
September 28, 200818 yr As long as our defense goes up and our pitching is great like it has been, then i'm happy. i say get some hitters that hit for contact and keep at least 2 or 3 Home run poeple( like uggla) but if an amazing deal comes by then i'm all for it. rasmus please!

We cant get snider for Jacobs. and i wanna get the most production out of catcher, and a platoon would do that.

We might be able to get Snider for Uggla, but we are not getting an B+/A- prospect for Jake. Snider's contact rate/strikeout rates are concerning to me. He'll SLG in the majors, but his ba/obp are questionable. Would much rather have Rasmus, he's best case scenerio, if the Cardinals really will show interest (And given they're cost-controlled OF depth in the MLB level already, he could be expendable, and they have absolute sh*t in the terms of 2b throughout their entire system).
September 28, 200818 yr I don't see us trading Anibal at the moment. None of our pitching prospects seem ready to take over at the major league level, and if Anibal stays, we have one of the best rotations in the MLB if not the best. As for Uggla, i have to agree wit Lou, Rasmus sounds like the guy the marlins would want to have. I do not see the marlins getting Kemp even if we wanted to. It would take a lot more than Uggla to get Kemp. The dodgers seem that they want to revolve their team around Kemp, a 5 tool player who looks alot like a young Josh Hamilton (but without the drugs)
September 28, 200818 yr The Dodger's FO has shown the exact opposite, actually. Well they seem to like Kemp and Eithier in the OF, along with Manny currently in left, but we know he will most likely be gone. Pierre will be gone, so i do not seem them getting rid of another OF'er for Uggla, although they do need a replacement for the aging Jeff Kent
September 28, 200818 yr Juan Pierre won't be gone, and Andruw will still be there. Pierre won't be gone until after the '11 season. They don't "seem to like" Ethier and Kemp in the OF cuz all they've done the past several years is done things to prevent them from being out there, even though both of them are supperior to every OFer they've picked up sans Manny. Something you have to understand is Colletti is retarded.
September 28, 200818 yr Juan Pierre won't be gone, and Andruw will still be there. Pierre won't be gone until after the '11 season. Something you have to understand is Colletti is retarded. why would they keep Pierre? He is making $11 million to rot on the bench. I agree they are stuck with Jones, and that had to be the worst signing of all time, but I wouldn't see them getting rid of Kemp, that would basically be telling everybody that they are giving up on the future. And they can get mediocre prospects in return for Pierre if they agree to buyout the majority of the contract, which would be the wise decision currently
September 28, 200818 yr Why rasmus. His minor league numberes are not great from what i saw a 252 average.
September 28, 200818 yr they can't get sh*t for pierre. he's horrible offensively and defensively at this point in his career, and the contract length on him is f***ing huge. the only way they can get rid of him is if they agree to pay his entire contract while getting nothing in return. they're stuck with him.
September 28, 200818 yr Why rasmus. His minor league numberes are not great from what i saw a 252 average. http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=11899

Andruw's contract was a good contract, because he still plays elite defense and there was the possibility he'd come back around offensively based off his age. And you say trading Kemp would say they are giving up on the future? Uhhh you did see what they gave up for Manny? Andy Laroche is a f***ing pimp, they have absolutely nothing at third base, and yet them trading him to fill up their OF even more isn't "giving up on their future"?

September 28, 200818 yr TBS just gave a fairly interesting stat about Uggla....most of his hitting statistics are off of bad pitching. Pretty much what I expected. He feasts on bad pitchers and disappears versus anyone who is decent or above decent.

If u want to see it that way, I would take Kemp in a heartbeat. I don't understand the dodgers mindset getting all these outfielders, and i do think they would want uggla. I just don't think Kemp would be the price they would want to get rid of

Not that I expect the Jays to trade for Uggla, just that I was responding to the guy saying to trade one of Uggla and Jake for Snider.

What do: Ted Lilly Bronson Arroyo Greg Maddux Rich Harden Jason Marquis Brandon Webb Chris Young Jeff Suppan Brett Myers Mike Pelfrey Matt Capps Pedro Martinez Tom Glavin Billy Wagner Jose Valverde John Smoltz have in common? All are "above average" pitchers and get hit by Uggla to a .800 OPS.
