February 10, 200917 yr I saw a clip of the protest on the news. It looked like there were maybe 20 people there.
February 11, 200917 yr I got this in response of my email to District 6... "The proposed funding from Miami Dade County is composed of Sports Tax > that can only be used by Florida Statues for stadiums or sports > facilities and CDT best know as bed tax that is paid by visitors to our > hotels. > > Those funds can only be used to promote tourism or for construction of > convention centers, museums, stadiums, etc.... Even if we want to use > the money to help our constituents in times of need or for sidewalks, > children or seniors programs or any additional need...we can't. The law > earmarks those fundings for specific use. > > I believe that property taxes from the general fund should not be used > for the stadium and I stand firm on that conviction. > I am waiting to read the proposal to define my position based on facts. > Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion. It's really > important for me." > > Rebeca Sosa
February 11, 200917 yr Am I getting this correctly? Like... would the Marlins then be forced to find a new home if Florida cant sustain them? Because I mean... lets just cut all of those jobs who work for the stadiums and FSN Florida. And give them to someone in San Antonio or something. Loria is staying in Miami, hopefully the team stays with him. H. Wayne Huizenga said before he sold the Dolphins that he wants the team out of Dolphin Stadium after 2010. Stephen Ross has only said that he would give them an extension year if a stadium deal is in place. So most likely, yes. If the stadium deal falls through, the Marlins are as good as gone. Hundreds of jobs will be lost. Brilliant... jobs that certainly dont need to be lost will be Thats what our economy needs.

February 11, 200917 yr I saw a clip of the protest on the news. It looked like there were maybe 20 people there. 20 protesters? Well check out the stadium website. Looks like there were only 2 Marlins fans (See the photos here) at the mayor's thing. If they outnumber us 1 to 10 on Friday, we have not even the slightest shot. Now really isn't the time for apathy. Make sure to turn out. I'll be going to the county meeting for sure and see if I can make it to the city.

Well we've got two meetings to deal with on Friday and I think the point is we need to make sure fans show up. If the protesters can turn out 20 people at "11 a.m. on a Tuesday" I think that we should anticipate those numbers will significantly increase Friday. Definitely a valid point to be made.

February 12, 200917 yr I can't imagine how pissed I will be if we manage to lose the stadium in the 'final seconds', if you will.
February 12, 200917 yr Wow, something happened on that poll. It's like 55% to 45%. Ouch. Non-Marlins fans probably went to that link and voted no.
February 12, 200917 yr BTW, with both polls, Martinez and the Herald, if you want your vote to count and count (hint), clear your cookies and cache.

February 12, 200917 yr I just finished sending an email to all 13 commisioners. It said the same thing inside but I sent each email seperate and I also changed the beginning depending on which commisioner I sent it to (To Commisioner Diaz, To Commsioner Seijas, etc...)
February 12, 200917 yr i spoke his office their told me no today I hope his NO today is a weak NO and can still be changed tomorrow. Also, I noticed that you included Sorenson in the undecideds when she is in fact a very strong NO.
February 12, 200917 yr Sorenson is no vote that what i was told today So then your undecideds are down to 6? Again, we need Martinez. I think he is the only shot we have.
