Uggla Wins Arbitration Hearing.

You know what this means, right? It means his days with the Marlins are now officially numbered.

Who is kidding who? His days were numbered after he repeated the success of his first season.

yep absolutely! I am glad he got a good payday but sad that it comes with a ticket outta S Florida. The Bonifacio era is about to begin. Now we definitely know what that Nationals trade was about all along

I'd rather see Andino. Either way I doubt Bonifacio's time will compose an era.

Pshhhtt, his days were numbered as soon as he put a jersey with the words "Marlins" on it. Either he was going to be good and go to another team, or he would fail and eventually go back down and go out in a few years.

Anyway, good on Uggla, and here is hoping he repeats the last two years performance (with improvements, naturally) this year, and may his future career with XXXXXXX be long and fruitfull.

Someone should make a list of all of our players ... and how long it will be before they become too expensive to keep around.

yes he most likely and other too even Hanley Ramirez if this ballpark deal not done :banghead

Hanley's signed long-term.

if hanley some how got traded im going to rip my hair out and become a pirates fan...that way i can just settle for losing every season and dont need expectations.

I dont think he has a no trade clause. Plus im pretty sure we got the best player in the game cheap and every other team espcially the red sox would give a lot to get him.

That's kinda funny to have a bunch of guys with 6-figure incomes acting as though they're poor.

Uggla deserves his money. I hope it doesn't mean he's going too soon, but I suppose we can't do much about that.

As for Bonifacio, if they really want to play him anytime soon, I think he has a better shot of ending up in LF than at 2B.

I doubt Bonifacio ends up in LF, he is reported to be the next Luis Castillo. It is clear that the trade with the Nationals was centered on him and I doubt Beinfest was thinking at the time. let me get this guy and make him a punch & judy LF. I really am convinced that Beinfest is banking on Hermida for years to come as the LF. Cody however is in a different status in RF. He will be filling the spot until Mr Stanton finishes his schooling in the minors, which should not be very long at all. In summary Bonifacio is Uggla's understudy, and may be called to perform very soon

Doubt that. Jeremy Hermida is in his way.

Has the organisation lost all faith in Coghlan then?

Dan Uggla is among the top 2 2B in MLB and is a two-time all-star. Hermida was on the bench at the end of last season.

I'm not saying it's a lock, and that Hermida can't possibly return to what he did during the second half of 2007. But I think the odds are pretty bad that they will dump Uggla for the purposes of playing Bonifacio at 2B, especially with Coghlan waiting in the wings as well. IMO, the middle IF is set in stone for 2009 barring any injuries, the corners of the IF are overloaded, and and we have a corner OF who finished last season on the bench, along with Bonifacio having just been extremely productive playing corner OF in the Dominican League. So I stand by my assessment.

Doubt it all you want. The fact is that assuming no big injuries, the Marlins are pretty well set as far as who's starting at every other position, and considering that Hermida's the only one on the squad that got benched last year for his lack of production, I don't think it would be so far fetched. Besides that, I think you're also just wrong in terms of assuming how the team works. And then there's Coghlan, as someone else mentioned.

I doubt Bonifacio ends up in LF, he is reported to be the next Luis Castillo.

I don't want this to come off the wrong way, as I think you're an intelligent person and I generally enjoy reading your posts. But it would be real nice if you could make one post that didn't involve Hermida. It's just like, ok, we get it, you don't like him, can we move on.

Im guessing he meant Cody based on the quotation further up the page. Obviously meant as a joke tho

Erick its been awhile that Beinfest said that Bonifacio as a player was most like Castillo there is nothing new or earth-shaterring there. Can your memory be that bad

BTW Beinfest is quoted in the Herald today that this is a big year for Hermida, I really feel that Beinfest is certain of Hermidas ability as a ballplayer and is fully counting on him

Care to give a link? And if Beinfest said that...he was the only one who did say that.

That's a joke of a comparison.
