Arbitrators Richard Bloch, Fredric Horowitz and Steven Wolf made the decision one day after hearing the case. The Marlins had offered $4.4 million. Uggla hit .260 with 32 homers and 92 RBIs last year, his third straight season of 27 or more homers and 88 or more RBIs. Eligible for arbitration for the first time, he made $417,000 in 2008. Uggla was the third player to go to a hearing this year. February 12, 200917 yr Well, good for him I guess. Yeah but I'll be sad to see him go next year or this year if we're out of it by the break.
February 12, 200917 yr could marlins trade him now that he cost them more money??? Not now probably, but at midseason if we struggle, and definitely in the offseason either way. Here's to hoping he mashes especially hard this year so as to not only help out the team, but to raise his trade value as well. BABIP = .380? :cool

February 12, 200917 yr good of Uggz. Now he needs to prove he deserves that contract and up his stats next season.
February 12, 200917 yr Hopefully his 2nd half last year doesn't translate to this year...if it does, that'll suck.
February 13, 200917 yr You know what this means, right? It means his days with the Marlins are now officially numbered.
February 13, 200917 yr It's great to have hhim back but why did we only sign him for 1 year, its kinda depressing but he adds Power to our Lineup. Can't Wait to see Maybin Baker Hanley Cantu Uggla Hermida Cody Gaby/Dallas Dropping Bombs and scoring runs right and left especially with the solid roration we have. This is the Yaer of the Fish
February 13, 200917 yr It's great to have hhim back but why did we only sign him for 1 year, Because the organization has made it abundantly clear that we are not signing him long-term, even though he has said multiple times that he would like to stay. We are also completely risk-averse to more than 1-year deals, unless the player's name is Hanley (Wes Helms was a strange exception to this).
February 13, 200917 yr You know what this means, right? It means his days with the Marlins are now officially numbered. yep absolutely! I am glad he got a good payday but sad that it comes with a ticket outta S Florida. The Bonifacio era is about to begin. Now we definitely know what that Nationals trade was about all along

Despite this, I expect one of the two to start at 2B by August.
February 13, 200917 yr The only Uggla trade i would except is sending him to the o's for matt wieters lol :cool

Wieters cost them a fortune in guaranteed money, and the Orioles don't exactly have many bright spots in their organization other than him...
