April 3, 200917 yr I'm taking a giant leap on MVP, I know. I didn't want to go with the obvious. My thinking went like this: Jeter has his last great year, puts up big numbers (.320/.400/.430). I expect the Yankees to win 98 games. A-Rod, with all his stuff, won't win the MVP award, even if he is the best hitter on the best team. That leave The Captain, putting out big numbers when the Yankees needed him, with all his intangibles and clutchness, winning the "lifetime achievement" version of the AL MVP award as he leads his Yankees to the playoffs. Jeter, who's the pet of the baseball writer's community, has never won the MVP award while winning everything else. The writers would jump at the opportunity to give him his last hurrah. And that is why I picked him as the MVP. And as far as A-Rod, you think putting the 2007 HR champ as the 2009 HR champ is a bad pick?

Hell be out for a bit with that surgery of his...and he had surgery. I'm sure he'll put up the power numbers still, but I think someone will beat him in the HR department.
