Explain where Hermida has failed so far? 1 great season, 1 injury filled mediocre one, 1 bad season. Where is the utter failure for the 25 year old?

 

And why is Murphy's 151 PA sample size "potential" and Hermida's 500 PA Sample size "failure" when they put up the exact same numbers? Especially when Hermida's were more in line with his MiLB numbers?

I want Marlins success to be consistent from all players, to have a guy who has the stats I posted 75% of the time and his 2007 2nd half stats 25% of the time, I just don't want that guy on my team.

Hermida's OBP was .323 with a.247 BA... you don't see the upside there???

 

The issue was his BA at home, as has been stated numerous times. Bring that BA up to say .270 or .280 and the OBP jumps to .350-.360 (at least, more hitting would probably lead to more careful pitching which would lead to more walks), which is certainly solid... add in a .450+ SLG and you got yourself AT LEAST an .800 OPS OFer... (with average-above average defense)

The thing is that you've repeatedly called him a bust for one bad season, when that's really all it was...one bad season.

 

And it was one bad season at Dolphin Stadium, which is a tough ballpark for left-handed hitters.

 

He was great on the road.
