April 19, 200917 yr Why do people hate the Yankees? Like...they're not even in the NL East. Jealousy. why would i be jealous of a franchise who has the biggest payroll in baseball and sucks....26 rings..please...any team would have 26 rings if they played since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Is this a weird quiz where you ask the question and then answer it? Yes, because they've won 25% of all World Series and played in 37.5% of them. It's not like their weren't other teams back then sir and they don't all have 44 1st place finishes, 47 playoff appearances, 39 pennants (that's AL Championships for you kids), and 26 World Championships. Many of our fans will go "bah, 26" if they Yankees are involved but the same fans will say "TWO RINGS!" if someone brings up Marlins vs Rays. This is classic jealousy. lol j/k i always wanted to do that...anyways i may not know alot about baseball from 1940s and crap but idk how many teams there where but i doubt there were as many as now. it isn't jealousy because y would i be jealous as i said of the highest paid team and they don't win when it counts. the hatred started especially when all the stankee fans would say they would eat the fishies alive and crap....they where planning the parade before we even played them, but we destroyed there @sses.
April 19, 200917 yr I hope you all hate the Sox too. I can respect the front office of the Red Sox a bit more, at least. They seem to have talent for scouting young players, whereas the recent Yankees FO mainly just throws cash at veterans. My family's Yankee hatred starts with the fact that we lived in NY and rooted for the Mets before 1993; continues with being jealous of their long-term success but also hatred of annoying fans; and also continues because of the never-ending obnoxious coverage the media gives them. And don't get me wrong, I understand why they get that coverage. They have more fans, so that's what the shows cater to, which is cool. But it's annoying. I'm completely over the whole Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. ESPN and Fox has shoved it so far down our throats that I want to see both fans fail epically. I used to root for the Red Sox to a degree because they hadn't won in so long. Then, my family member who I had called to congratulate after a Patriots super bowl failed to acknowledge my Marlins at all in 2003. So then I was like f* that, f* all the teams in mass. But that's just a personal note.

But that's just a personal note. I remember having this argument with someone before the 07 post season, and actually went into it an figured out that the Yankees had more guys in their 25 man from their farm system than the Red Sox did. Red Sox get a pass for ding the same stuff that that Yanks do.
April 19, 200917 yr I don't think it's jealous, it's just the American way to hate who's the best and instead root for the underdog.

Jeter, Cano, Posada, Mariano, Pettite (even if he left...he still started with them), Joba, Melky. The fact that they spend money shouldn't cause hate. They should be applauded for spending their money, instead of pocketing it. They are not breaking any rules.
April 19, 200917 yr I don't think it's jealous, it's just the American way to hate who's the best and instead root for the underdog. It's not rooting for the underdog, it's rooting against the have-mores. They Yankees haven't been "the best" for nearly a decade now.
April 19, 200917 yr They're the best franchise in baseball history. People are going to hate that. They hate that because they aren't that. Isn't that what jealousy is?
April 19, 200917 yr Again, the american way is to root for the underdog and hate who's ontop. Doesn't matter if they're linked to it or not, ergo no jealousy would be involved.
April 19, 200917 yr The Yanks need to learn that overspending on players doesn't translate into greatness. Well, this is what we're so jealous of. Duh. Anyway that was pretty awesome to watch. Too bad they won today, though.
April 19, 200917 yr Author Yankees continue to dish out millions and millions of dollars... and they havent won since 2000. lost WS in 01 lost WS in 03 chokes in 04 They didnt even make it to the playoffs last year. There best player cant do S*** in the playoffs There best pitcher breaks down in the playoffs Yankees suck...period. It doesnt matter how much money you got, its about the players on the field, and there will to win. I respect the yanks, i just choose to root against them (even in the 9/11 tragedy i still rooted for the D-backs) Never rooted for them, never will....thats my choice. Never been jealous, never will. In conclusion: Yuck The Fankees.
April 19, 200917 yr Red sox fans are as annoying as Yankees fans. The bandwagon ones are for sure, Its the same with all the Rays fans coming out of the woodwork, I assume just about every team that fields a winner finds itself some new fans.

April 20, 200917 yr true red sox fans > true yankee fans True Red Sox fans are people who don't believe they are the same f***ing thing as the Yankees and wonder why people hate them. At least Yankees fans understand and embrace people hating them.

April 20, 200917 yr I hate them both because they are the same thing, and I hate the media coverage of them, and I hate that everyone at my school thinks they're from Massachusetts or NY/NJ and start retarded fights at parties over the Yanks/Sox thing. God, just shut up!

April 20, 200917 yr I hate the Yankees. Not sure why though, it's just one of those things, when I started watching baseball I was given the choice to hate or like the Yankees and I decided to hate them.... mostly because my dad rooted for them lol. So yes I hate the Yankees and have no logical explanation for it, is there something wrong with that? Don't hate them as much as the Mets though.
April 21, 200917 yr I mainly can't stand their fans. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Throw the Sox in there too, completely spoiled.
April 21, 200917 yr The Yankees have only won 4 championships during the expansion era and none in the last 7 years. Winner Winner Tender crisp chicken bacon cheddar ranch dinner.
April 21, 200917 yr I don't hate the Yankees. I don't pleasure in their loses. I love their history and their cultural impact. I hope one day, the Marlins are like them in that regard. I also like how they (and to a lesser degree, the Red Sox and the Cubs) serve as a cautionary tale about how throwing money around won't buy championships. You need to have the talent, and more importantly, the talent that you need, that is well-rounded. However, I won't root for them in the playoffs. The whole underdog thing, yes, and the selfish "Oh, they already won so much, let someone else get it." Also, I don't like dynasty teams, unless I am a fan of those teams. :shifty
April 21, 200917 yr I mainly can't stand their fans. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Throw the Sox in there too, completely spoiled. Yeah b/c Mets fans don't act that way. :lol

April 21, 200917 yr The Yankees have only won 4 championships during the expansion era and none in the last 7 years. Winner Winner Tender crisp chicken bacon cheddar ranch dinner. The Expansion Era started in 1961. They have 8. They have 4 since we came into the league, I assume that's what you mean. "Only". That's "only" twice as much as anyone else has won in both those times. See, this is what I hate about most of those who hate the Yankees. It's one thing to just blindly hate them, it's another thing to claim they "suck" and aren't a good team because they "only" won twice as many championships as anyone else.
