Well, i think they changed it to an error as it shows he reached base once but there no walks and no hits so it has to be either Fielders Choice or reached on an error.

FSL is more of a "pitchers league" though there is obviously going to be better actual pitchers in AA than A+

June 10, 200917 yr What kind of line do we need to see in order to be pleased with his time in AA? I mean, I guess that's partially determined by how quickly he's expected to move up [to the bigs]. But, considering his age, if he went .265/.340/.460 (.800), I wouldn't be too unhappy. He may not be the #1 prospect in baseball with that line, but I'd still be mighty impressed by a 19-year-old. Even more important are probably his K and BB rates IMO. If he can stay under 25% K-rate, I wouldn't be too unhappy. If he gets anywhere close to 30%, that would seem to indicate trouble, no? (Meh, I feel like a noob writing a post with so many questions in it. I just don't feel I know very much at MiLB expectations, projectability, etc.)
June 10, 200917 yr He is 19 in the Southern League playing in what I believe is the biggest AA park. Have reasonable expectations and you wont be disappointed.

June 10, 200917 yr Well, since he's an elite prospect, he should put up close to a .850-.900 OPS. But he's only 19 in Double A in a pitchers league. So, we have to lower our expactations. I say about .260/.350/.500 line, with hopefully a 2 to 1 K:BB ratio.

I am curious to know how his defense is Stanton can play center a bit but is said to be a natural RFer. I think he has legitimate OF skills but it's hard to find out things like that without seeing games yourself or getting good scouting reports.
June 11, 200917 yr Can't find any ratings like a 8 out of 10 arm or something like that, but what I've read says he's got good range and a strong arm, and that's as a CF. So he shouldn't be a concern at a corner OF spot.
June 14, 200917 yr He's currently hitting .219 in 32 AB's in Jacksonville with 0 HR 3 RBI's .278 OBP .219 SLG .497 OPS. He still has some work to do but it's only been 8 games so i expect him to be there til September, and he'll probably be a call up.
June 15, 200917 yr Stanton's definitely taking some lumps in AA so far but that's to be expected. I'd rather have him be forced to make some adjustments at the AA level than come up to the majors and be totally exposed after lots of minor league success. Being 20 years old he has a ton of time to work on things there and he's a good enough raw athlete and seemingly has a good enough work ethic where he will be able to do what is needed.

June 15, 200917 yr In his 2nd game Stanton went 0-3 with a walk and a strikout. Bum. Release his ass. This is a real post from the 2nd week of Stanton's major league debut. Im looking forward to next year and our prospects making the bigs, but at the same time i think of all the growing pains and how painful it will be to watch. Fred will have his hands full with and OF of stanton,morrison, and maybin. Plus Gaby at 1st. I like the idea of Gabby playing 3rd base and Morrison on 1st base
