Marlins own the Nats

Featured Replies

As a very dedicated Nationals fan this is not an easy thing to concede, but the Marlins just seem to own the Nats right now. The Nationals have a lot of problems, and struggle against nearly every team they play these days, but their inability to hold a lead against the Marlins has got to be the most exasperating aspect of a nightmare season this year. Kudos to the Marlins. One of these days the Nats are gonna beat them. I just hope that I live long enough to see it. :)

Well I think Marlins love playing the Nats because right now we've had luck beating them. But even our announcers admit that it's the best the manager can do with the players he's been given. I mean, it's just a bad combination right now. Probably going to be a lot of trades by the break, no?

No the hitters are pretty good with Guzman, Nick Johnson Zimmerman, Dunn, Willingham and now they found a CF in Nyjer Morgan. The Nationals main problem is that there pitching staff and bullpen is terrible and it ha been for years now, even with Strasburg there not going to get better until they start either just drafting quality arms and hope they pan out or get some good Major League ready pitchers.

Part of the Nationals problem is that with their pitching staff being so inconsistent, they don't really even believe that they can hold leads. They need a major confidence boost, like the Rays got a few years ago. I think the thing for the Nationals to do is move to a new city, change their name, get new uniforms, and then a new stadium.

I have never seen the words "very dedicated Nats fan" used in a sentence before. Good for you. I read somewhere that the average TV audience for a Nationals game is 9000.

Hang in there, eventually they will be good. Even though baseball doesn't have a salary cap (thank God), with things like revenue sharing and the Rule 5 draft, teams are able to get good eventually once they start heading in the right direction.

The starting pitching has really settled down over the past several weeks once they brought up the young guys from the farm. Jordan Zimmermann and Craig Stammen are doing well, and John Lannan is, as well. Time will tell with Scott Olsen. He had a good game against the Marlins the other day. It's the Nats bullpen that is just killing them. Another problem is the team's inability to score after the 5th inning or to get hits with runners in scoring position.

I usually go on the Nats boards when they play the Marlins just to see how the feel. With what they're saying, I feel like I'm looking at myself after the last fire sale. Sure, the Marlins had a future because of all the talent they got in return, but the fact that we wouldn't compete for a while really got me down. Eventually things look up though. The Nationals are in a deeper hole, although they show rays of light with their younger players. Acta needs to go, though.

The other night, the Nats announcers seemed to be billing Scott Olsen as the future ace of their rotation. That is not a good sign for them.

The way things are going for them, Strasburg will be in the Majors by opening day next season probably as there number 1.

I sometimes feel bad for the Nats and their fans :confused

It reminds me of the way we were playing in the beginning of '06.

But we actually went somewhere after the ASB we got hot and our players turned out pretty good.

That year we broke so many Rookie records i can't even remember them all and also that was the year Dontrelle, JJ, Olsen, Nolasco and Anibal all had 10 Wins.

John Lannan has had a solid year, and Jordan Zimmerman has some legit potential. He's got great stuff.

To top off how bad they've been, they had the whole Natinals debacle. I don't understand how something like that goes unnoticed. That is a joke. I expected much better from them this year. At least the stadium is nice. Marlins fans had to deal with a sh*tty stadium and sh*tty team at times. Not that the current Marlins team is great, but they have at least been in the middle of the pack and not in the basement of the division for some time now. Although the moral of the team seems like it can use a boost. They look like they don't think they can win. At least toward the end of the games it didn't.

Yep, I don't understand why the Nats don't win more games. They have real good position players. Need to get a couple good starters and relievers. I hope they come around and win a lot of their coming games against the Mets, the Phillies and the Braves.

I always thought they were better than they have played. Alot of the pieces are there, just need some pitching. Maybe with this GM they won't feel like they have to sign every corner OFer in baseball.

Not to mention that Craig Stammen has shown potential as well.

Now we are on a 25-3 streak against the Nationals. When was the last time a team has been so dominant over another?

The Brewers have beaten the Pirates in their last SEVENTEEN meetings, which is just sick.

Wow that is ridiculous. On a personal level, Roy Oswalt owns Cincinnati - he was 22-1 in 27 starts against them as of August 2008. Not sure if he has played them since.

Last time i remember he was 24-2 vs the Reds, 2-1 this season.

Makes me wonder when the last time a team swept a division rival for the entire season (Like we have done so far). I know the Brewers didn't because they lost to Pit on the 22nd of May...
