July 30, 200916 yr For Gods sake, that was one error. Sure, it's continued the inning, but damn it, if that was Uggla you guys probably wouldn't care about it. Boni could be making spectacular plays all night over at third, but one small mistake which could end up to nothing [not talking about tonight] and you guys are all over him. GIVE THE MAN A f***ING BREAK!

GIVE THE MAN A f***ING BREAK! Are you serious? He doesn't do anything well except run, which is irrelevant because he doesn't get on base. The least he could, the absolute least, is not f*** up completely routine plays. There is no excuse for what he did, he's a natural 2B, and f***ing McCann is the runner, he had like 3 hours to make a good throw. You're right we wouldn't complain about Uggla, because if he was making that play it wouldn't happen. Now, the Braves score an extra run, and it probably takes away another inning JJ would've pitched...
July 30, 200916 yr You're right we wouldn't complain about Uggla, because if he was making that play it wouldn't happen. How do you know that? It's not a sure bet. He may have done the exact same thing.
July 30, 200916 yr Is there really a need to make a new thread every time he makes an error? Isn't that why we have game threads? We get it, Bonifacio is bad. It's not like we just discovered this. Get over it.

He may have done the exact same thing. I like how that's the only part of my post you argue against....no reasons why Bonifacio is useful to the team? Shocking... I don't blame him for not hitting, it isn't his fault he's in the starting lineup every day, but plays like that should never be messed up.
July 30, 200916 yr I don't like the guy, but I agree...the thread is unnecessary. Also, I heard he made a nice play in the 2nd inning. Didn't see it, but I'm guessing he did.
July 30, 200916 yr I found this funny (not trying to insult Boni). Bonifacio's OPS is only .40 points higher than Hanley Ramirez's slugging %.

Didn't see it, but I'm guessing he did. yeah he caught a low line drive that otherwise would have bounced off his foot and smacked him on that goofy ass looking face of his. i refuse to criticise his play anymore so i am now i going to crack on that less than astetically pleasing dome piece of his from now on. btw when did it become the norm for one tool players to get an everyday job. i have good arm maybe i could play right field. trouble is that i have an allergy to grass, leather, wood, pine tar, and oxygen. but still.......you never know????
July 30, 200916 yr Why? Why does he play? Why? Speed. And that's pretty much it. 2 stolen bases in july. 2 caught stealing in july.

July 30, 200916 yr Emilio Bonifacio currently has the lowest OPS out of 3B who qualify. Second to last is Mike Fontenot, and he has a .671 OPS compared to Bonifacio's .608 OPS. There is an obvious reason why people are agitated about him continuing to start every day.

Why don't we just throw J.J. at third when he doesn't start? Big body, incredible arm strength, solid left-handed bat... anything but Boni.

He is the only guy on the Marlins, and possibly the only guy in the league who on every single double will score from first base easily. His speed has served advantages to this team. He has made some nice defensive plays this year, and he still is learning a new position, and was forced there in spring training. We have started to see that unlike earlier in the season he isn't getting struck out everytime a fastball up and inside is thrown on him. He is making adjustments. Bonifacio is playing up to what he is capable of. He goes out and plays every day as hard as he can, and tries as hard as he can to help the Marlins win every day. The issue here is more of the front office failing to utilize Bonifacio talents to where they would be best used, which would be in an Amezaga type of role, where he can come in and play any position off the bench and fill in for an injured player and to pinch run. We shouldn't be angry at Boni, he is playing like his numbers showed in the minors, he is playing up to his ability, the front office just hasn't used Bonifacio properly.
July 30, 200916 yr Boni hasn't been great, or even good. I'm not a fan of his. But he will score from first base on anything hit out of the infield for a hit. He does have more hits than Cody as well, although he has a lot more AB's as well. Which is why his average is lower. If I remember correctly he has 100 hits. Would be nice if it would have been 200 hits, but at least he's scoring when he gets on. At least he's been putting the ball in play. There's definitely room to improve though. Gaby got his first AB today. And just as fast as he walked up to the plate, he was walking back to the dugout. A horrible AB, swinging at the first pitch and hitting a little dribbler to third. Like Caroll and Helms have said. Make the AB's count. Even if you're not successful with a hit, at least see some pitches and work the count.

Dude, I never ever came even close to saying I was angry at Boni, because I understand it ain't his fault his name's on the lineup card daily. What I'm saying is, his hopes and dreams and hard work and this and that are not going to win us games or help this team in any way. He is absolutely the most dreadful everyday starter offensively in the game, regardless of position. Why in the world is Gaby Sanchez not playing? I would rather have have Josh Johnson start third base, no joke. Where's Dallas McPherson when you need him?
July 30, 200916 yr Why? Why does he play? Why? Speed. And that's pretty much it. 2 stolen bases in july. 2 caught stealing in july. As Dim noted, speed has more to do with just stolen bases.
